Felix had poked his head out of his apartment door, brows furrowed at the noise outside. He always had a late sleep schedule, but he liked staying up late because it was peaceful, and somebody was definitely disrupting it. He opened up his door and saw a few boxes piled up in the hallway. Who the hell moved in at almost 4 in the morning? His question was soon answered as his assumedly new neighbour walked up the stairs.

"Hey, weird time to be moving, huh?"

knocking on the door relentlessly, she tried to push down the part of her that felt guilty. it was obvious they were awake, given the noise coming from their apartment. "would you open the door already?" the words exasperated, flashing back to too many times in her early years were she had the same argument with her brothers. "do you know what freaking time it is?"

it wasn't a conversation he was looking forward to having, but it seemed preferable to the alternative. he was fully expecting them to turn the idea down, knowing how ridiculous it was. but he thought at least if he asked, there was the slimmest chance of it working out. "listen... i know how weird it is, trust me i do, but i never... exactly told my parents that we broke up. they have a big party this weekend and i was wondering... if you'd want to go?"

"i'm not judging." holding his hands up in mock surrender, knowing the words would have come across better, if there wasn't still laughter laced through his words. taking a minute to fully compose himself, he dropped his hands as he shook his head. "really i wasn't judging, i think everyone's been in your shoes. it's what makes it funny isn't it? the universal experience of dealing with furniture you're sure came with the wrong instructions."

Nova let out a humorless laugh, their arms crossing over their chest as they leaned back against the headboard. "It doesn't bother me," she said, even though it kind of did. Not because Avery was here, but because she never stayed long enough anywhere to make Nova feel like she mattered. "Just funny how I'm always the fallback. The 'safe' option, so to speak." They finally glanced over at Avery, resisting the urge to roll their eyes. "You didn't think it bothered me, but you didn't think to ask, either, did you?"

"oh good. you're awake and alive." she had been there for the last ten hours, genuinely worried because why wouldn't she be? and yet completely pissed off because... well, why wouldn't she be? romy didn't like to care about exes. she frankly wanted to forget that they existed. but when she got a call, she didn't hesitate. she came running. "i was worried i wouldn't be able to call you a fucking idiot to your face, and tell you to change your fucking emergency contact." but there was a stuffed animal and a bouquet of flowers on the table next to them with romy's signature.

sutton had no way of knowing who was coming down the block, or if they would even be wiling or able to help. but as soon as she had heard his voice a smile worked over her lips, recognizing it before he came into view from the other side of the box. ❝ my god, you are a lifesaver! ❞ she grinned, before handing the box over to him. ❝ it's okay if you drop it, just supplies. i mean, it would be awful, and so heavy to pick up, but nothing breakable! ❞ the blonde spoke as she quickly moved to open the door to the bakery for him. ❝ thank you so much, seriously! you can just sit it on the counter, i can unpack it later! ugh, i owe you! ❞
