Let’s all give a warm welcome to @apprentiorganik, the latest addition to #companiesthatactuallygiveashit :) this Black woman-owned brand infuses all of their skincare products with hemp 🌱🌱 Hemp seed oil is a powerful ingredient proven to combat side effects of issues such as dermatitis + inflammation. Plus, hemp is super sustainable: it grows quickly, is naturally pest resistant, and is incredibly versatile. But back to @apprentiorganik - they opt for glass bottles over plastic, source ingredients thoughtfully, and products come in unisex scents because who needs gendered skincare product anyways?? Happy Saturday everyone! It’s the perfect day to highlight the latest member of #companiesthatactuallygiveashit, @omiwoods. This Black woman-owned jewelry line is #ethically handmade with #fairtrade African gold and conflict-free fine metals. Founder Ashley Alexis McFarlane named the brand Omi Woods (Omi means ‘water’ in Yoruba) as a tribute to her Jamaican-Ashanti-Maroon heritage - the word Jamaica derives from the indigenous Taino word 'Xaymaca', meaning 'land of wood and water'. Their necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets are beautiful as stand alone pieces and minimal enough to stack with others. If you haven’t heard of @twodaysoffclothing, here’s the low down on the newest inductee to the #companiesthatactuallygiveashit club: this sustainable line of thoughtful pieces by @ginastovall is made in Los Angeles either to order or in limited edition batches, using dead stock fabrics and focusing on natural materials like linen and cotton. Gina is a geologist and earth scientist, and was first inspired to start @twodaysoffclothing after learning about environmental impact of the fashion industry. Between the #minimalist designs and natural materials, this line is definitely one I’m keeping my eye on this season! Alright y’all it’s #companiesthatactuallygiveashit time, and this week I’m so pumped to share an awesome WOC run #sustainable cleaning business, @blueland 😍 they are revolutionizing the cleaning industry by creating effective non-toxic products. You start off with three spray bottles for different cleaning purposes, and for each bottle you get a “tab” like the one pictured that you add water to. And voila! Cleaning solution. They send new pods in compostable packaging, and since you keep #reusing the spray bottle over and over, there’s #nowaste!
