alright so here's the last part of what I dubbed the 'dp 4 set' in which I made four dp drawings (stars, Halloween, and dog) on these weirdly plastic-y sheets of paper at the front and back of this mini notebook from my school. since I'll be using a fresh notebook in the spring for micro most likely, I'll probably be making another '4 set', though maybe with more spring/summer themed drawings instead of these winter-themed ones? taking prompts if anyone is interested :0 (I also have more empty pages in this mostly-full notebook that could be filled with art so that too is a thing, though it'd be on regular paper instead of this weird paper that I should really learn the name of)
this little series thing has been about experimenting a bit with traditional art since I am very much a digital artist, so for this bad boy, I busted out the oil pastels for possibly the first time since I was like 10? might've used them once or twice between then but definitely not very often at all. but yeah so this was colored with a cheap 12 pack of oil pastels I got from my high school forever ago (miraculously I had a set that wasn't super hard and dried out and would actually color the weird plastic-adjacent paper; the other set I had were too hard to even draw with on regular paper lool might try dipping them in water beforehand next time) and then traced in the outlines with a black sharpie. the sky is somewhat inspired by the first part of the 'dp 4 set' that I did to show a past vs present thing but it's not super obvious oop
this is the first time I've drawn Frostbite and he definitely did come out a bit more idk cat-like or possibly wolf-like than I anticipated with that flat muzzle and the short upright ears, but idk I think it kinda looks like him? the anatomy for the bones in his arm in the show make my brain sad tho tbh, not that this is even much better but yeah. please accept Frostbite teaching Danny how to use his ice powers
and as usual with traditional art, here's the progress along the way, starting with the rough sketch and moving to the colored version without the outlines. my coloring skills on paper (and digitally) are as subpar as usual but an attempt was made to blend the colors like oil pastels can apparently do?? (didn't know that until I tried to see if I could use crayons and oil pastels so that I'd have more color variety). I think the final product came out looking sufficiently soft and cozy, though it probably would look objectively nicer if I kept it uncolored or just did a greyscale type thing with the pencil again lol
also I'm aware my outlines are crooked, I've been sick for a few days and am only sorta wellish again so my hands are kinda shaky (there's no such excuse for the obvious sharpie thumb print below Frostbite's ice arm from where I was holding the paper in place though lool ,_,)
