DPLAfest 2017 is around the corner and we are thrilled to be heading to Chicago! Whether you are a Chicago newcomer or a native, or participating in the fest from near or far, check out highlights for local institutions and events to explore while in town for the fest in our blog post.

We received an excellent array of submissions in response to this year’s call for proposals and are excited to unveil the dynamic program that we have lined up for you. Look for opportunities to engage with topics such as social justice and digital collections; public engagement; library technology and interoperability; metadata best practices; ebooks; and using digital collections in education and curation projects.

Registration is open for DPLAfest 2017!

We’re pleased to announce that registration for DPLAfest 2017 -- taking place on April 20-21 in Chicago, Illinois -- has officially opened. We invite all those interested from public and research libraries, cultural organizations, the educational community, the creative community, publishers, the technology sector, and the general public to join us for conversation and community building as we celebrate our fourth annual DPLAfest.

The two-day event is open to all and advance registration is required. Registration for DPLAfest 2017 is $150 and includes access to all DPLAfest events including a reception on April 20. Coffee, refreshments, and a boxed lunch will be provided on April 20 and 21.

We are looking for a diverse array of proposals from across the library, archive, and museum communities on topics related to digital libraries and social justice, copyright and rights management, public engagement, analytics, assessment, and impact and more!

Hello, Chicago! We’re thrilled to announce that DPLAfest 2017—the fourth major gathering of the Digital Public Library of America’s broad community—will take place on April 20-21, 2017 in Chicago at Chicago Public Library's Harold Washington Library Center. The hosts for DPLAfest 2017 include Chicago Public Library, the The Black Metropolis Research Consortium (BMRC), Chicago Collections , and Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS).

Following a very successful DPLAfest 2016 in Washington, DC, we’re already looking for next year’s location for another great interactive, productive, and exciting fest.

We are calling on universities and colleges, public libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, and others to submit expressions of interests to serve as hosts or co-hosts for DPLAfest 2017, which will take place in mid-April 2017.
