Eleceed - “Son? Nah, apprentice”

~a fanfic about Jiwoo, who witnesses a fight between Dr Delein and Wooin, as he was being controlled by ’minthead’~ (loberne)

NO ONES POV: (i dont really get this stuff, so PLEASE don’t kill me for the confusing sides of points of view- sometimes its Jiwoo, sometimes Kaydens POV)

All he could do was standing besides and watching Wooin aggressively attacking his professor. ’This wasn’t himself anymore’, he thought. Because Wooin would never do such a thing.

Maybe he should try stepping in, pointing all the attention to himself? That would save a little more time for Wooin to free himself of the control. He was in terrible shape at the moment, and if he kept fighting against Dr Delein like that, he would possibly kill himself.

But on the other hand…Jiwoo himself was already badly injured from the previous fight against one of the Klein brothers. And if he evaluated his friends realistically, they’d still need some time to find them here.

Time they didn’t have.

All he knew was that Wooin was being mind-controlled by some shady awakener with mint-coloured hair. Luckily Seongha Park already took care of that one…but why was Wooin still like this? Was there another person controlling him? Or…maybe even an organisation??

But crap, things were getting out of hand. Wooin managed to overpower his master slowly- should he intervene? Jiwoo couldn’t hurt Wooin, regardless of his desire to prevent Wooin from killing. And Subin and Jisuk had to get treated right after the fight. Jiwoo doubted heavily that they’d be searching for him right after their treatment.

But what about Inhyuk? He should’ve been here already. Jiwoo silently unlocked his phone, never dropping his gaze off Wooin and Dr Delein, trying to call Inhyuk, as he heard a familiar voice whispering: “Oh, Inhyuk? Sadly, he won’t be able to help ya. He’s unconscious now-” Jiwoo turned around quickly, just to see his mentor. Kayden.

“Phew, it’s just you. Wait, what do you mean by ‘Inhyuk is unconscious’- Did you knock him out??”

“Yeah, i had to. But let’s stop that kid from killing someone. I’m pretty sure Wooin’s getting controlled by someone besides that minthead”, Kayden murmured, trying not to catch Dr Deleins or even Wooins attention. He and Jiwoo were standing on a roof, looking at Wooin Dr Deleins fight. ‘But who could control him, other than the guy from before?’, Jiwoo thought.

From the looks of it, Kayden was already preparing to take Wooin down. Before Jiwoo could warn him from possible bystanders (just as Jiwoo and Kayden himself), he already gathered his power and knocked Wooin easily out. Too easily, if you ask Jiwoo. Not that he didn’t believe in Kaydens overwhelming powers, cause he did.

But something wasn’t right-

And then he saw it: A shadow, slowly making his way up to the end of the small and shady dead end alley, where Kayden, Wooin and Dr Delein just fought. Noone saw it coming except Jiwoo. Everyone was focusing on Wooin. (“maybe you knocked him down with too much force-” Dr Delein said.)

That was the moment Jiwoo chose what to do. He quickly collected all his power to stun that jerk, who dared to attack Wooin, Kayden and Dr Delein, unconscious. Then he jumped down and stood between the shady person and Kayden, who noticed the attacker just now.

Jiwoo saw the glare, with which the person stared at Kayden, just a second before the attack. It was a surprising move, about like Wooins attacks in spars.

Noone expected it.

Noone could react.

Except…Jiwoo.

It was long ranged so he didn’t dodge the attack, he just absorbed it in order to protect Wooin, Kayden and Dr Delein from getting hurt. He knew that the shady person must be a great awakener, if he could control Wooin that effortlessly…

Jiwoo tried as much as possible to take the attack in and block it like that. But jeez- that guy was on a whole nother level than him! He tried to cancel out their power by using a shield, formed of electricity. Luckily, it worked quite well until the person, who was covered in a cape as he saw now, increased the amount of power and broke it. Jiwoo got thrown back from the immense force and landed besides Wooin, who just got his consciousness back.

“Are you feeling good enough to escape yet?”Jiwoo asked, so that the creepy person couldn’t hear them. After Wooin agreed silently, Jiwoo gave Kayden a sign, letting him know that he’d escape and return back.

Meanwhile, the shady person tried to attack Dr Delein, who blocked the massive amount of power easily.

“OH, another strong one. The frame will be excited to hear about you and your little disciple!”, the covered person said, glaring at Delein furiously. To Jiwoos surprise, the voice was quite high and sounded…female?

*Jiwoo escapes with Wooin, dashing off to a more open space*

The frame? What kind of business could they have in mind with Dr Delein? And…why did they want Wooin? Before they could attack again, Kayden hit them with a storm of lightning, forcing them to back off and letting them float.

“I may not be in my best era, but I’m still no pushover like that kid, heh”, Kayden said, grinning insanely, increasing the amount of force even more.

“Now, let’s see who you are…probably someone from the frame, trying to take that kid and his mentor for frame’s experiments? You better answer this, you fucking coward”

“You know very well who I am, Kayden. It’s not like you nearly killed me before, huh”, and with those words, the person took the cape off, revealing a young woman…

“Seo-yeon?!”

At the same time he noticed Jiwoo returning, staring at both of them in shock.

Shit.

He would’ve to explain all this mess later. Though, the only important matter right now was that Jiwoo got away, without getting dragged into this chaos. He couldn’t let Jiwoo get into danger again.

‘He’s only in danger cause of you’, he heard a tiny voice saying

If the frame noticed that Kayden had an apprentice…

He didn’t want to continue thinking about the ‘what would happen’ question-

“What are ya here for, Yeon? What kind of business do you have with Wooin?”, Kayden asked, his voice sounding monotonous, as if all this was annoying him.

“Duh, isn’t it obvious?!”, she sighed resignedly, showing off that explaining the reason was bothersome, “He’s a strong unaffiliated kid, so the frame sent me to capture him for them. But now that I found his mentor” - she slightly pointed at Dr Delein, who tried to interpret the whole mess - “I think I should take ‘em both. Wanna help?”

Jiwoo gazed at them, anxiously. Why did she interact with Kayden so…friendly, as if she had already known him for a long time? Did they…know each other from the frame?

But why would Kayden work along with that group?

‘It doesn’t make sense…’, he thought.

“Ugh, definitely not. You’re so bothersome nowadays-”, Kayden declined her offer, just rolling his eyes over that stupid nonsense she was brabbling.

“Dude, y’know that it was the same for you, some years ago, right? Just picking fights with literally anyone…”, now she smirked, knowing that she had a point.

“Fine, whatever. I won’t help you, Yeon. There might have been times where we used to help each other, but I don't do that these days. Just go back to your precious frame and say that you couldn’t find ‘em intime, ‘kay? I’ll let you run off this time-” As he said that, he put the barrier down, letting her drop onto the floor, pathetically staring down and accepting her loss. Then she noticed Jiwoo, who was still watching from a distance.

“Ohh~ now look at who we have here. You’re the brat who took Wooin, didn’t you?”, she grinned, furiously glaring at him. He didn’t seem like a strong awakener, but she herself already saw his capability. Ignoring Kaydens demand for her to leave, she gathered an amount of power, which would knock him down immediately. But before she could even unleash the force, something - WAIT! No, it was someone… - hit her with an immense power.

It wasn’t Kayden, though.

Where did that come from besides- “Did you really expect me not to react? How ridiculous of you”

As she looked at him, she saw IT.

The stare.

The eyes.

The resemblance.

This condescending look-

“No way…Is he your son? I never knew you actually had a family, Kayden”, she said, still staring in disbelief at Jiwoo. And then she looked at Kayden, waiting for a solid explanation. “That’s because I don't have one, jeez. And son? Nah, he’s my apprentice. And now stop bothering me, you’re hella annoying”

Then he turned away, letting her sort out her thoughts. Even if she knew that he had an apprentice now- she got humiliated by Jiwoo, so she surely wouldn’t blab about him at the frame.

How pathetic of her.

“Let’s go Jiwoo, there’s nothing else left to do here. She is incapacitated from fighting now anyway”

And with those words, he and Jiwoo both disappeared, leaving a confused Dr Delein and Yeon behind.

Yeon. Yeon, who still regretted her pathetic downfall, mumbled nearly unhearable: “I’ll kill you, Jiwoo, no matter what”
