Polio Myelitis Vaccine

From the first rollout of the vaccine in the United States.

This vial carried the first of the Polio vaccines in the city of Tulsa, OK in April 1955 and was administered to my grandmother (aged 9) and another little boy at the time.

While we had long known about my grandmother’s stories of getting the first vaccine and that she had made it into the newspaper at the time, we were surprised today to run across this vial which she was allowed to keep.
