i really. REALLY hope that the reason don thousand got skipped is because they're trying to play coy abt adding him later and not because theyre actually legitimately trying to brush off zexal's big bad as too unimportant to be a playable legendary duelist. putting aside how jarring it would be to skip him and then go back and address him again, yknow it's bad enough that no. 96, tron and faker are all unplayable. its bad enough that mizael was treated like utter dirt and not even given the dignity of his original death (what the actual fuck konami). its bad enough that they shoveled in the dub's worst examples of character assassination in these past few events while also not even having enough quality control to keep the dub names consistent. its bad enough that every part of zexal worth criticism was left unchanged or made even worse-- while the good parts were gutted and hollowed out. but to have now three (four if you count 96 even though. sigh. i'll talk about 96 another day. poor boy.) of the MAIN VILLAINS left as either event npcs or BARELY ADDRESSED BY THE STORY is just fucking disrespectful. Actually five. Where the fuck is Eliphas.

it's well known that Kazuki Takahashi created the protagonist designs for DM, GX and 5DS, but he also worked on a significant portion of Zexal's cast, designing Yuma, Astral, Zexal I, Shark, Kaito, Kotori, Faker, Haruto, Anna, Cathy, as well as Hope Utopia and Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. (He also appeared to design a very different early version of "Mizael" but more on that in another post)

Some of these sketches were seen before Zexal started airing in Japan, while others were revealed in Kazuki Takahashi's artbook "Duel Art"
