Now for this prompt I’ll be focusing on relaxing with Darka and Kaito. Cause I swear only Haruto and Darka can get that guy to take a break. Maybe Jinlong had it right on Dragon user bigots…

“Nii-san you need a break.” Kaito blinked, his fingers stopped mid typing and turned to see his little brother at the entryway of his office with tiny fists propped on his hips that Kaito couldn't help the small amused smile.

“I have a bit more work to do Haruto.” Kaito began

“That's what you said an hour ago Nii-san.” Haruto pouted. “Youre almost as bad as Tou-san!”

Kaito sweatdropped then sighed knowing Haruto had a point. He saved his work and stood up from his chair.

“Alright you win, I could use a break.” He relented, making Haruto smile brightly.

“Great! Come on Darka-neechan is waiting.” He said, taking Kaito’s hand and pulling him out of the office. Kaito chuckled, letting Haruto pull him along. He truly was soft for any of Haruto’s and Darka’s requests. But he loved them and they love him so it evens out.

“Darka-neechan I got Nii-san!” Haruto spoke cheerfully, as they walked in a room.

“Good work little heart.” Darka smiled, hugging Haruto. Kaito looked at the old piano Darka sat by. The piano had been a memento of his late mother that Darka found fixed up before being a frequent player. Today no doubt was no different. The coffee table had tea and snacks for them as Kaito sat down on the lounge bench.

“I take it you’ve been deep at work?” Darka asked gently.

“Per usual I've gotten used to it.” He shrugged, taking a cup of tea.

“See? He’s turning into Tou-san.” Haruto pouted, making Kaito choke and Darka giggle.

“Well good thing we’re here to make sure he takes his breaks.” She smiled. “And I believe the new song I’ve been practicing will help.”

“Taught yourself a new one?” Kaito asked, amused, as Haruto excitedly sat next to him.

“Hehe well this one is becoming a favorite.” She smiled, turning to the piano. Soon she began playing and Kaito smiled softly. He could see why this would be a favorite for Darka, calm yet hopeful with an elegance to it that soothed him. He leaned back with Haruto close to his side while closing his eyes, letting his body relax as he listened to Darka’s playing in peace.

I absolutely adore Kaito and Haruto's relationship!! Single dad Kaito the beloved. Because Faker is not a good dad. He wasn't a good dad to Kaito and he is barely a dad to Haruto

Faker was not a good dad. He was not the dad Kaito needed. He wasn't there when his mother died, he wasn't there when Kaito was trying to figure out his gender, he was not there. All he did was throw himself into trying to help Haruto.

Kaito did not resent Haruto for this. Since Faker's obsession with trying to help him left him unable to actually parent the two children, Kite had to raise Haruto with only the help of Orbital 7.

It's only after the events of Zexal that Faker makes an effort to parent Hart, but it's too late to be the parent that Kaito needed. Their relationship will never be a father-son one. Never again. The only reason Kaito is still in contact with Faker at all is because of Haruto.

Haruto is not stupid and recognizes the tension between his dad and his older brother he sometimes calls dad on accident, but is just oblivious enough that he doesn't know why.
