I finally watched Karate Kid: Legends last night on Netflix. I liked it. I liked how well Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan played off each other. I liked the little history lesson that tied into The Karate Kid Part II. I liked Li as a character and his relationships with Mr. Han, Mia, Victor, and Alan. I liked Johnny's little cameo at the end. Yes, I want him and Daniel to open a Miyagi-Dough Pizza. Has that fanfic been written yet?
What didn't I like? Not enough of Ming-Na Wen. I can buy her as the concerned mother who has lost one child and refuses to lose another. I can buy her as a doctor. But she deserved more. And to not even give Dr. Fong a fucking first name?! Come on. When the previous films had Lucille LaRusso, Louisa Pierce, and Sherry Parker, and Cobra Kai had Carmen Diaz and Amanda LaRusso, there is no fucking excuse. Also, I feel like we needed more Daniel, who, honestly, could have mentioned his own family or struggles. I also would have liked more from Conor Day.
