W.M.D. Character Intros
This story has team whump, so there’s a lot of characters in it. Let’s start with the major players:
Kestrel is the living weapon at the center of the story. He’s heavily brainwashed and remembers nothing of his life before he was turned into a weapon. His DNA has been spliced with the DNA of a black vulture, and he’s had wings surgically implanted into his back to give him the ability to fly.
The man responsible for all of this is Dr. Algernon Fowler, essentially a mad scientist who’s been trying to see if he can turn humans inhuman and weapon is the result. Dr. Fowler was born without his right arm, but he doesn’t let that stop him from experimenting. Kestrel is his first true success. Now, his goal is to turn the process lucrative, but those plans are foiled when Kestrel strays out of bounds and disappears.
Kestrel’s rescuer is Shane Carter, one of a group of young people being trained for a shadowy purpose on a semi-secret base. Shane is a competitive surfer and has a stubborn streak that often puts him at odds with the rest of the team. He’s very kindhearted, and is determined to help Kestrel break through the brainwashing.
As for the rest of the team….
Luke Evans is Shane’s best friend. He likes computers and very emphatically doesn’t like the situations Shane is always dragging him into.
Diego Alvarez is the jokester of the team, and is usually in trouble for it, but he has a good heart. He would say he’s the prettiest member if it wasn’t for…
Ana Alvarez, Diego’s identical twin sister. Much more disciplined than her brother, so when she pranks you, you never see it coming.
Viveca “Viv” Tai serves as the medic for the team- which needs her way too often. She’s a trans girl, and she considers herself the voice of reason. She’s usually right.
Paul Price is the leader of the team, and basically permanently annoyed with everything. Has no patience for shenanigans, somehow ends up involved anyway.
Jones (no one is sure what his first name is) is the steely ex-military man in charge of the whole operation. He hasn’t said exactly what he’s training them for. Nobody wants to ask, because Jones is terrifying.
