So. I just finished Umbrella Academy season 4. There was a lot I loved, but a lot I HAAAATE
Spoilers under the cut!!
First, the bad shit:
I refuse that ending. Nope. Didn't happen. It makes the show feel pointless. If they were gonna do a bittersweet self sacrifice ending, at least have them actually die instead of straight up never existing.
Five and Lila getting together was disgusting. Suuuuper creepy. Like mother like daughter ig. I'm not even a huge Diego and Lila shipper, I was more neutral on it, but fuuuuck this. I would've loved a platonic version, but not this shit
Speaking of Five, they fucking butchered his character arc. It feels so OOC. He spent so long trying to get his way back to his family only to leave them behind? This feels like some chatgpt shit
Not to say it was all bad, though!
It started out strong! I absolutely adore Gene and Jean, and Claire as a petulant teenager was super fun.
It makes me so happy that Raymond left Allison. Good. Fuck her.
Diego and Luther were also a highlight, same w Klaus and Claire
The way Viktor tried calming Ben down like Ben did to Viktor back in s2 was some good shit
Ben and Jen. Holy shit. I ship it so much. THEYRE THE ULTIMATE STAR CROSSED LOVERS!!!
The answer to how Ben died was also super satisfying, it makes perfect sense. It was sort of like the Kingpin reveal in Hawkeye, with most of us seeing it coming, but still good
Tldr: lots of potential, but majorly fumbled the ball
The music choices were perfect, as per usual. As much as I hated the ending, I loved the reprise of I Think We're Alone Now
I love that Viktor canonically gets a lot of pussy. Good for him
