A Mara Dyer fanfiction. - I am scarred.
“Kells, please-” I am not one to beg. I do not like begging. I force myself not to beg. Not be weak. To be strong for Noah.
And I don’t care anymore.
“Please, Kells!” My voice comes out in a strangled cry. Noah was stood against the wall. He wore no smile on his face – It was serious. Yet the glint in his eyes told me otherwise.
I willed myself to kill her. She has a heart attack. Asthma attack. Chokes on her tongue like the Spanish teacher. Just die. Find a way to die. She must have seen my struggle. Noah, too. He furrowed his eyebrows in annoyance. He didn’t want me to try. He knew he was going to be okay.
“Mara,” Dr Kells sighed, her voice echoing through the large hall we were stood in. “There’s no point, Mara. You’re wearing yourself out. I need to you for this.” She shrugged, and the gun to Noah’s head grew closer. So much closer. Although he wouldn’t let me see – Me or Dr Kells, I could see the pain she caused him. The discomfort.
“No.” Is all that comes out from me. I’m stood near a wall. Close enough so I ccan touch it. To far to touch her though.
She notices. She grabs his shirt from the back and drags. She cocks the gun.
“Mara,” Noah’s voice rings out. It was the first time he has spoke. Kells seems to enjoy that. My fear. Anxiousness. Sadness.
“No. Don’t speak Noah, don’t speak.” My voice is soft. It is as if I am singing him a lullaby. No. Singing myself a lullaby.
“Mara, she won’t.” Was all he says. I shake my head.
“No-No she will. Noah, shut up.” I am snapping at him. Kells laughs. It echoes in my ears. Like venom. My vision fees blurry. I feel scarred.
“Mara,” He breathes. Kells seems to be having enough.
“Listen to your girlfriend, Noah, dear. She’s right sometimes.” I want to fall to the floor and cry.
To fall against the wall and knock myself out.
To feel my knees giving in and my breath knocked out of me.
Surely he can heal himself. Surely.
“Kells, no-” My voice is a whisper as she moves closer to him.
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
“Please! Please, I’m begging!” I’m desperate now. My voice is a cry.
“No.” Is all I say. Please no. No. He can heal himself. He can. He has to.
And he gives me one more look – A smile, to be exact. Hi eyes light up for less than a second with something that would always be there when I am around him. Something he keeps for me only. Something to say goodbye with.
The loud bang echoes through the halls.
I’m against the wall. My eyes have always been on him.
The light that was there is now gone.
“Why? No! Please, no!” My eyes feel wet. I will not cry in front of her. I will not be weak.
I am against the wall – I want to die.
“Shoot me. Please.” I whisper, looking up through my clouded eyelashes.
“I’m sorry Mara. You know it had to be done.
