Humans’ faces are pretty hard to draw, but you draw Doctor Yu’s face perfectly! Is he based on someone IRL or on another fictional character?

Thanks! I've actually spent a much longer time drawing humans than I have drawing Sonic characters, so I have a bit of practice under my belt for that.

Dr. Yu isn't directly based on any real people or fictional characters, but he does have some weird brain origins. Like, a lot of him (design and personality) got lifted from a very VERY old character of mine from my cancelled webcomic. The guy didn't even get to show up in that comic by the time I cancelled it and I was pretty bummed about the wasted potential because I adored writing him:

Like, he was this lanky chain-smoking loser with the most rancid attitude known to man, and he liked nerdy stuff and was super into anime but he'd be extremely obnoxious about it and say everything he liked was the highest form of art and everything else was lowbrow garbage. He was a college boy who Just Got Into Communism and Wanted To Write A Book and decried every holiday as Capitalist Corporate Nonsense and he'd pick fights with superpowerful beings who could splatter him into paste in seconds (because he's just some human loser) and he'd still live, somehow because a friend and I both thought it was really funny.

I miss you, Harry.

So yeah, he and Dr. Yu share some kinda spiritual connection. They're not 100% the same, like obviously Harry isn't some middle-aged Korean man. But. There's an evolutionary thing going on here.

(sonicsloyaldogmuttski) I am a huge fan of unethical mad/evil scientists and this most recent page solidified Dr. Yu as a favorite, oh my god what a bastard I love it. He knew just what buttons to push to get what he wanted, it doesn’t matter what foul shit he has to say to make it happen so long as it does and remains in his control. Like MAAAAN he’s gonna be so fun I’m excited

what is Dr Yu's perfect date?

Probably a nice dinner at some super fancy restaurant where a salad costs $25 minimum. He'd insist on being the one to pay for the meal, of course, and during the meal, he'd talk about very mundane things like the weather or politics. Or he'd complain about his coworkers.

Yes this is ideal for him.
