What if Danganronpa: Killer Killer was instead structured like a story about yet another Killing Game?

Now that DR Gaiden: Killer Killer is coming to an end (I believe next month) do you think it's a possibility or put into consideration of making it into an anime?

In my opinion, I doubt there is even a slight chance.

In Kodaka’s interview, he has said he disliked making the anime: “I feel like I won’t be making an anime like this again.” I don’t think he is interested or planning on making another anime anytime soon.

The DR3 the anime also sold pretty poorly (source). It didn’t do terribly by most anime sale standards but did much worse than expected. It sold less than the DR1 anime even though the DR1 anime was less than half the length, and DR1 was cheaper to make in almost every aspect: fewer voice actors/parts, fewer locations to draw, fewer flashy effects like explosions, didn’t need to draw the characters in different outfits/changes over the story, fewer writers were needed to adapt an existing plot vs make a new one, ect. So, even if Kodaka was on board, I doubt it would get greenlighted solely on profit end of things.

On top of that part of the reason DR3 was made was there was a huge market for the SDR2 kids. People had wanted an SDR2 anime for years so it was an easy sell. On the other hand, KillerKiller isn’t very well known. After how poorly DR3 was received there is little market for any anime for the series, let alone the side stories like KK, DR/0, DR:Kirigiri, ect. Unless something big happened like an incredible spike KillerKiller manga sales so a demand is created it is unlikely.

To be frank, I doubt we will see any kind of danganronpa anime anytime soon. DR3 oddly enough probably hurt the series more than it helped it.  I’m not saying we are never getting one again because of DR3 but it won’t be for years at least and will probably be only from the most popular/main parts of the series to ensure some profit.

Hot Take: Danganronpa Killer Killer have the hottest designs out of any other entry. And its not even remotely close.

Okay, so Killer Killer has this whole thing where they reveal that Mukuro Ikusaba is alive and a prisoner of the Future Foundation at the end of one issue, and had this army of followers who had all had plastic surgery to look like her, and one of them died during the first game, and continuing out from the main Killer Killer being literally in love with Mukuro, and the first Killer Killer is in love with him. It is too complicated to explain in one ask, but I really got the impression that she was Mukuro, having gotten plastic surgery the other way to see what had become of him.

Hm. I mean I still don’t know enough about Killer Killer to tell if this makes sense but it sounds cool!

I have a headcanon that Misaki Asano is Mukuro Ikusaba. It is a long-winded theory, but put together it makes a lot more sense than it should.

I haven’t read Killer Killer but from what I’ve seen of Misaki, this would have to be quite the wild theory lmao
