I just read through all of your mhau posts and I love it. Though now I'm curious about Impulse and how demons work in this au. How'd he become friends with Grian since he's technically a hunter? Also does Grian have to keep Impulse secret from other hunters?

demons r what i like to call netherspawns and while they inhabit the nether they're pretty chill and are on neutral terms with the overworld people.

grian befriends impulse during his training in the nether, so he invites him to visit the overworld and impulse agrees cause he's curious to see if the sky's really blue out there n stuff like that. later he decides to stay there, joining grian on his quest.

it's not uncommon for netherspawns to go and settle in the overworld or even become hunters/alchemists themselves, so there's no reason for impulse to hide from other hunters. it's not all sunshine n rainbows though cause demon blood is frequently used for potions and spells so it's not uncommon for people to straight up kidnap a netherspawn and smuggle them into the overworld either. to avoid that the only functional nether portals are located in hunters' headquarters and can be accessed only by high-ranking hunters like iskall. there are portals on the other side as well, but they're often deconstructed by netherspawns themselves.

If I may, let's take a break from the angsty questions. The chain gets to hug someone that isn't another Link, who comes to mind first for each of them?

Most of them want to hug their Zelda, because most of their Zeldas have been kidnapped or turned to stone or whatnot and thus deserve a good hug. The exceptions are as follows:

Dusk hugs Midna, because this is his One Free Embrace and that means that Midna isn't allowed to turn it into a joke. She is still allowed to mock it while it's happening but she's not allowed to break it until Dusk does. (The reason he's not hugging his own Zelda is because he's still working up the courage to move past back-of-the-hand-kisses. Do you have any idea how much romantic intimacy is involved with an embrace between two people in a relationship? It's a lot and Dusk is going to work his way up to that as slowly as he needs to. And for the sake of his blood pressure he needs to work up very slowly.)

Wind hugs his little sister. Aryll gives the best hugs. (The reason he's not hugging Tetra is because... well. Uh. It's better to let her make the first move.)

Sketch chooses to hug Hilda, because when it's all said and done... holy crap does she need a hug. How has she not broken down from all the stress yet? How is she carrying all that responsibility and not shattering? Yeah if he can be someone she can lean on for even just a couple of minutes, it's worth it

Could I ask about Mask's thoughts on the Anju and Kafei subplot? (and maybe the rest of the chain if you feel up to it)

He thinks they're cute together. He also thinks he needs to look into getting Kafei back to his normal age, but then again Mask is also not quite the age he looks, so... jury might be out on Mask's actual ability to manage that

Given the amount of skins in Hyrule Warriors, dose Lux have a secret appreciation for fashion?

If his face stayed the same, I would have said yes. However given that the many skins appear to actually be many Links, I say that Lux could not care less what he's wearing so long as it's flexible enough to punch people in

Are you okay with people seeing the chain as something other than cis/straight? I'd like to write a few things with the chain but I don't want to overstep any boundaries.

Doesn't really matter to me, since I'm usually rolling with the Nintendo-canon interpretations and that rarely gives me any true details. The exceptions, to my knowledge, are Mask and Ocarina (they need to make Dusk at some point), Wind (who needs to make ST Zelda at some point), and I think Gen (who gets so heavily ship-teased with his Zelda that I'm genuinely surprised they didn't make it official). Aside from them I don't think there's anything explicitly determining preference in canon, so no worries

Which version of Hyrule are you looking forward to rewriting the most?

At the moment?  Termina.  I know, I know, not technically Hyrule, but man I messed up so much stuff in Termina.  I could have done so much better.  I plan to do so much better, so prepare your minds to be blown by all the Mask-and-Shadow character development and/or plot relevancy because I’m going to bring it.
