It wasn't unusual to see illithids at this particular port, but at the same time it wasn't usual to see said illithids alone, so most other humanoids just assumed that the illithids in the area knew each other or went together. So far, this is about to cause some trouble for a certain illithid who has nothing to do with the other two are in the same port, for very different reasons.
Zeke and Dyon had been wandering around the port's bazaar area for a while, until both stopped to try and barter for certain seemingly useless artifact, as the merchant that was selling it didn't want to sell it for a reasonable price and was being overly rude, Dyon jumped in action, decking said merchant square in the face with one of their prosthetics hands. Then they took the artifact, grabbed Zeke, and began to run away. Zeke on the other hand did allow Dyon to drag him, following as quick as the shorter illithid could, but, his psionic signature was that of someone upset and was probably telling the taller ulitharid about how what they did was not a good idea. Both ended up hiding on a tavern, deciding to wait and see if anyone would even think about following them to retrieve the stolen artifact.
The merchant who was robbed by those two was quick to put an announcement which mostly said 'Bring me a dead illithid, any really, and I'll pay you good'. And here is where some random adventures of mildly high levels in search of fast money come into scene. Those had found out about another illithid in the area, and had followed her, with no good intentions.
