He needed gold. He needed it so badly that he would risk sneaking into a dragon’s lair. If he got the money, he’d be able to buy his way our of servitude. And if he failed, well, he’d be dead so it wouldn’t matter that much, would it? It was better than being one of the Empire’s slave-soldiers. So, he really had nothing to lose.
Though, he’d really rather live if he had the chance.
So far, it seemed like it was going alright. He saw no sign of the dragon as he crept closer to a pile of gold. But then a voice made him freeze, his heart pounding in his chest. He looked to the sound, eyes wide at the sight of a hulking, attractive man. A man. Not a dragon. “Uh, I… It can be our secret?” he asked, his voice tentatively hopeful.
“Oh? Is that so?” Gladio asked mildly, strolling closer and closer. He could smell the nervousness, the fear on the blond, and wondered just how that would intensify as he drew close enough for him to see his eyes.
Eyes that weren’t human at all, but draconic and slitted even in his current body.
“Who do you think I am exactly?” he said, with a teasing grin.
