The Dream

Day 1 of Chestnut fest, Shared Dream. @chestnutisland

The room was dark. Nothing could be seen but a dim green light at the end of the hallway that was buzzing softly. The buzzing was the only other sound other than the crickets chirping from outside. She moved slowly gulping in fear when the floorboard creaked loudly.

Damn it. What if HE heard her? She knew exactly what would happen if HE caught her sneaking around the house. It's happened many times before.

Too many times.

She walked on her tip toes even slower trying not to cause any more creaks. She peered into the doorway where the green light was coming from and covered her mouth to not let out a cry of distress.

There was so much blood and wires everywhere and his face. She can never forget his face: writhed in agony, staring at her, begging for help. But she can do nothing because then HE will do that to her.

He understood that and gave her a small blink telling her to get out of there, run away. And she could, easily because HE is distracted and HE hasn't caught her yet. But she can't leave.

She can't just leave and leave her brother to his fate.

She just...can't.

18 wakes up with a loud gasp grasping her chest. Her bedroom is dark save for the moonlight coming in through the window. She glances beside her to the sleeping naked man snoring away, blissfully unaware. Usually he wakes up when she has this damn nightmare but tonight he's tired. He worked a double shift at the police station and Marron was sick so by the time they got to bed he was dead tired. He literally undressed and passed out within seconds.

Her phone buzzes and she grabs it.

That dream again? -17

18 sighs and texts back.

Yeah, you? -18

Yeah. Still sucks. I woke up Haru again. She's making me tea. -17

Krillin's still out. He was tired today. -18

Meet for coffee? -17

I usually would but Marron is sick. -18

What's wrong? -17

Coughing and fevers -18

This dream always comes back. I hate it. -17

Sometimes I'm not sure it is a dream... -18

...Yeah, maybe it's not. But I rather tell myself that didn't really happen. -17

Me too. -18

Wake Krillin, I feel bad that you're not getting any comfort. -17

He's tired 17 -18

I will call him right now -17

Don't you dare -18

So wake him -17

Okay, okay jeez. -18

Haru is back. I'm gonna drink this tea and try to sleep again -17

Why? It never works -18

I know. But I at least like to try -17

I guess. Okay good night then. -18

18 placed her phone back on the bedside table and looked over at the sleeping Krillin. She could really use a hug. She could never sleep after the dreams but when Krillin holds her she can at least relax even if she's lying awake all night.

Sighing in defeat she gently taps his shoulder until he groans softly and slowly opens his eyes. "18?"

18 watches him in silence for a moment not really knowing what to say and not wanting to sound weak. Krillin sits up groggily and says, "Is it Marron? Is she okay?"

"She's fine, still sleeping," 18 says. "I just...I just had that dream again."

Krillin hums softly. "The one with your brother mangled in that green room?"

18 nods. "Yes that one."

"Come're," Krillin says opening his arms.

18 scoots towards him and he immediately pulls him into his chest and lays back down with her. She cuddles into his chest and starts sobbing and Krillin gently rubs her back through it.

"I'm sorry you and 17 keep having these dreams," Krillin says softly.

"Me too," 18 says. "I'm just glad I have you to get me through it."

"I'm always here for you babe," Krillin says. "Always."

eh, I don't know, I'm not a fan of Caulifla to be honest. I think it's bs that she got SSJ2 so easily. it really insults the past work of the previous Saiyans. i dont know what Toriyama and Toei were thinking.

I love Caulifla’s personality and the fact that she is a canon character, who is female that can turn super saiyan. I love that she’s strong and doesn’t take bullshit from anyone. But tbh, the whole becoming super saiyan easy has already been done by Trunks and Goten, so I am not too surprised or mad. I would prefer if she had a much more deep reason to turn into ssj, but yeah, we don’t get what we want all the time I suppose.
