I'm so glad I wasn't the only one with a problem with the whole maiden power transfer. Almost anyone on the planet can get the powers but they have no way to track who has them so someone could get the powers as a child and never have them awaken. Which means a disaster could come along that only a maiden could handle & nothing could be done about it because nobody knows where to find one.

At this point my only hopes for Sage are that his tattoos are dust infused/do something cool and/or that his weapon uses dust. I just think that having three characters that use giant swords and only one of them really looks like it can transform would be a waste and having the sword use dust would set it apart from Yatsu and Qrow's swords. That and dust mage Sage would be a really cool concept.

I came up with this headcanon that Sage already has knowledge about the maidens and that story because his family is in charge of this massive archive of information from all around Remnant including secret or ancient info. This all just comes from him being based off of Aesop and the similarity between fables & fairy tails. This would also bring Mistral in on the secret since right now the only people that are shown to have knowledge on maidens are people with power in vale and atlas.

I just found more evidence for the Sage having a time based ability theory the chain at the end of his sword resembles the chain/chime inside of a grandfather clock

I can't help but be disappointed because the fight pretty much confirms that Sage doesn't have any wind based abilities otherwise he'd have used them to escape.
