Reyn - Liveship Trader Trilogy
i just did a thorough evaluation of all my ships and favorite fics. turns out my only preference ever is ‘needy pathetic service top with a praise kink’ x ‘cunty power bottom with a competency kink’
i’m welcoming any pseudo psychoanalysis you have on hand
Just watched the movie adaptation of Dragon Keeper by Carole Wilkinson and it was hot garbage because a number of the production companies on board were based out of China and the books were a critique of Imperial China.
Like what the fuck do you mean the main character willingly went back to that fuck-ass palace where she was routinely abused as a servant girl all her life at the end with no prompting? What do you mean she brought the baby dragon with her when his parents had been enslaved, his mother killed by neglect, and her body butchered in the courtyard for selling on the black market? What do you mean you’re gonna take the “the Imperial Dynasty enslaved dragons and their keepers and used them for their magical powers and spiritual symbolism which is Really Fucking Bad” book, sanitize it, and expect to still have a plot that makes any fucking sense?
0/10. Would not recommend.
There is something so interesting about the DragonKeepers... like the show made them this religious monastic group who revered the dragons but the canon is that they're just guards who only protect the dragons, and I wonder.... what did they do?
How did you become one? Could anyone be one? Were they celibate like Kingsguard? Did they get taught anything about dragons? Or did they just keep their distance? What did they learn about dragons? Why are the only people writing about dragons the Maesters when these people were in the caves? Did they have barracks? Was there any honor in being a Dragokeeper? Were they seen as brave? Was it a forever thing? In the show, they're religious; is it like the septons and septas?
01 From A Book
“The creatures didn't move as she approached. They had never tried to hurt her, but she had a feeling that they were hiding their true nature.” — Carole Wilkinson (Dragonkeeper)
one of my fav parts of this episode is how the dragonkeepers were so scandalised and angry that rhaenyra was breaking a holy tradition....once again proving the difference of dragonLORDS and dragonKEEPERS...like these are the ONLY ppl showing the proper reverence these beasts deserve!!! the last true worshippers of the old gods of valyria if u think about it!!! imagine how they would've felt when the all the dragons died....fuck!!!!
me: okay so I'm writing a Wingfeather Saga/Dragonkeeper movie crossover. but what about the Dragonkeeper book? what do I cross that over with?
chaotic part of my brain: the HTTYD books
me:... okay, but-
chaotic brain: Hiccup trying to understand Danzi's dialect of dragonese
me: oh my gosh you're right that's hilarious
I'm imagining this going like:
Ping: Oh, so you can understand Danzi too?
Hiccup: Well... yes... but he has the weirdest dialect I've ever heard in my LIFE.
Meanwhile Danzi and the Wodensfang are discussing these small chosen children they now have to look after and how the world has changed in the thousands of years they've lived
and then:
Hiccup: Oh yeah, I had a dragon stone I had to keep safe too. It turned out to have the power to destroy all the dragons.
Ping: wait- DANZI IS THAT WHY YOU WANTED ME TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT?! DANZI!
Hiccup, hearing how Danzi instructed Ping to take care of the stone: ohhh, no, nope that is, um, that is a dragon egg. that's definitely a dragon egg.
Ping: IT'S AN EGG?! DANZI WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME
(and truly that is the question. why DON'T you tell her, Danzi, stop getting mad at her for not taking care of it, she literally thinks you have an unhealthy attachment to a ROCK, not ONCE have you told her it's a dragon egg. this would LITERALLY fix all your miscommunication errors.)
