I need ya'll to meet Worm, and see the crazy transformation this little dude has had in just 3ish weeks

Named him Worm cus his colors were that of an earthworm, one of the "ugliest" dragon scale bettas I've ever seen. Was super depressed looking when I first saw him but perked up and was really curious about the movement outside his cup. Admittedly he was an impulse purchase, but i already had the supplies and space for a Betta, just didn't have the time to get him set up straight away.

He immediately started to color up after getting him out of the store and refreshing his water, and was already showing more oranges when i got him into his bigger tank a couple days later.

And here he is now.

I kid you not, he is that vibrant of an orange-red in person. I'm surprised I was able to get a semi clear pic of him, he is SO active and a voracious eater. Proud of this handsome little Worm. I'm excited to see how much his colors continue to change ;u;

Today's the one year anniversary of meeting Mr. Handsome McMurderfac! Then and now:

I would be posting photos all the time but he hates my phone on sight.

My favorite thing about him is when I get home I say "Fishie! Fishie man!" and he comes straight to the front of the tank and does his little happy dance.

Happy Gotcha Day to my boy Lance!! 🎉 (October 21, 2018 - Today!)

I’ve had Lance for 2 years now, and he has been with me through 4 different moves, 3 different apartments, 2 exes (lol) and 1 new tank mate addition (shrimps!).

He changed from pink to the shimmery, vibrant blue he is today within the first several months of enjoying a heated tank. Health-wise, he does have what seem to be 2 small tumors (not unexpected for his scale and tail types); one on the right side, mid-bottom (seen in the pic) that has been there for quite a while, and hasn’t grown in size. The second is more recent, on the left side, behind the top of his gill flap. I check on both every day, and so far his swimming and eating haven’t been affected and he is still quite an active boy!

It’s hard to describe to those not in the aquarium hobby the pure, simple joy I feel watching my betta friend patrolling around his tank, flaring at his reflection, harassing the shrimp, and begging me for food. I am so grateful I have him to care for, and as a constant companion of sorts, especially in the tumultuous times we’re living through today!

Vince was getting worse as the medication wasn't working. I couldn't put him through suffering much longer even though he was bright happy and gobbling his food.

He went peacefully to the other side.

As i was driving him to the vet there was a message in the sky - light grey clouds with streaks of sunshine beaming through.

This had me all teary but still offered some closure i was making the right decision.
