A dense, temperate forest like Darkwood needs fires to stay healthy. They burn away dead matter that can't decompose and fertilize the soil for new growth to emerge. It also helps increase the diversity of plants as the entire forest is no longer shaded by the tallest trees.

I've thought about this! Some trees have bark that is fireproof. Not to mention underground is safe from the flames. I think a lot of structures can be saved, and for the ones that can't, they can be remade. I have you and the others and Ant with me, you know?
