Hello dovey💜 within this past year I’ve been getting more into my witchy powers. I want to be able to dive more into meditation, spell work, etc. but how do I do that without getting drained? Lastly, any advice on staying clear of dark energies when doing spell work? That is something that’s shied me away with doing so... Thanks a bunch⚡️
“Dovey” ugh I love that. Anyways, hi Angel! 💞 and although I don’t necessarily do spells, I do know what it’s like to feel this way regarding meditation and other intuitive/witchy things so hopefully I can give some helpful advice!
✨1. First things first I think it’s important to understand that as human beings it’s natural to get excited over our awesome intuitive and witchy abilities and so I’ve noticed that just like with any talent/hobby/ability, you have to give yourself time to adjust and stretch into the gift or activity you’re pursuing. Like for instance, if you’re interested in dance you’re probably not going to be able to do a full on ballet dance like in the movies because you’re just not there yet. You really have to learn your limitations and not overdo it. Ease into it. The same concept applies to witchy activities, spells, etc. Start small. It can be tempting (lets be honest, really tempting) to start out doing these cool ass spells and stuff and trying different things but I’ve personally found that the best way to really get into something new without overdoing it and constantly feeling drained is to start out small (whatever that is for you because your small might be someone else’s big and vice versa) so find what’s comfortable and go at that pace. Like for instance, maybe doing one little spell/meditation/etc that isn’t extravagant and overly complicated (once again, whatever that means to you) every now and then or every day or whatever time you think is best to start out. And then once you get a hold on that then reach a new level of comfortable. Maybe try doing one spell/meditation/witchy thing everyday with the exception of doing a little something extra on mondays and Thursday’s (I mean whenever is best). There’s really no shame in starting out small (even when it’s really tempted to go out with a bang) but it’s also really important to just realize that diving into witchy topics whether it’s spell work, meditation, tarot, etc. it’s important to treat it like a muscle and to slowly work into it because you’re tapping into something new. You’re tapping into something that you can feel within yourself just like a muscle.
✨2. Another tip I kind of have is to get out there and work on it with others (if that’s something you’re into). Like for me with astrology and my intuition, I really got myself out there. I made this blog in February of this year and I was just starting out and I’ve already learned so much just by people asking me questions and applying my own Interpretations that I didn’t google. I’m even making my own posts and reading charts in person now. With my intuition I starting reading into people’s energy in person and asking them things based off of the energy I picked up on them. Sometimes I was flat out wrong and sometimes I was right. Now I’ve gotten a lot better just by engaging and easing into stretching my intuitive abilities and my astrological understandings. If you’re interested in meditation but don’t like just sitting there than maybe try yoga. Go to a yoga class. There’s literally so many things you can do. Just having a tumblr dedicated to things you love and want to get into is a great thing to do. Doing things with spellwork might be more personal to you and that’s totally fine. I’m not into spellwork myself but I’m into manifestation and things like that and so practice, practice, practice is key but only when you did it at a pace that’s comfortable for you so that you don’t pull a muscle aka get overly tired or something along those lines.
✨3. When it comes to spellwork and things that make you feel tired or anything similar, try being in an environment or headspace that’s comfortable. Light candles (I’ve noticed smells can ground and help with drained energy), do what you gotta do to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Maybe try sitting down (I know some people can get lightheaded or nauseous). Be in a space where you feel connected but also can mindfully detach from negativity (aka a safe space). This kind of goes into your question about how to stay away from negativity and dark energy. Our minds are so powerful and intention is everything. If we put out positivity, light, love, and happiness than that’s the energy we manifest or get back to us. At least what helps me is just remembering and saying in my head “I radiate love, warmth, and happiness.” I actually have a dark energy (like a spirit) in my house and it doesn’t really bother me but when I feel it I say that and it will go away. I’ve definitely heard this works for a lot of people for different things (spellwork included).
✨4. Another tip that I recommend which kind of goes into the comfortable space is having crystals. If you are into crystals and crystal healing than having protective crystals (for the dark energy) and having crystals that help with being drained, helping with your energy, and intuitive work are always great to have around. Special little objects that you love or hold value/sentiment to you are great as well because the intention can be there depending on what it is. For example, I had a opal necklace my grandmother gave me that I would wear everyday to help with my energy just because it reminded me very much of her. It was almost grounding to me so if you have things like that that help you in some way than go for it💞
✨5. Snacks and drinks are always great options as well to help with being drained. I definitely have noticed personally that the more grounded and comfortable I feel, the easier it is for me to tap into my intuition and to not deal with things like exhausting myself because I’m comfortable and I’m taking my time. Also food helps with energy!🌱
✨6. The last tip I have is basically if you do get to a point where you are drained (maybe accidentally or you worked a muscle aka went too far into your intuitive work) than distracting yourself is always a good option. Take time to really recharge. Eat. Watch a movie. Take a walk. Take a bath. Whatever it is that you personally enjoy 💞
That’s it for me! I hope I was able to help I’m some way darling ☁️
