The Difficulty of my Errand
You may have noticed that I added a second position to my LinkedIn profile today. If you click on the company logo and read through the LinkedIn Company Profile for UNIT Materials and Science, I believe that the company summary will seem a bit familiar to you.
“ We develop ultra-lightweight materials engineered to provide exceptional structural strength and remarkable thermal insulation characteristics in concurrence. We provide solutions for applications where any combination of two or more of these significant attributes of high-tech engineering are a design factor: High strength, Ultra-lightweight, Minimal material profile, and Extremely low thermal energy transfer. ”
You may recall when I told you about this invention that I was working on. It was a revelation that God gave to me about three years ago. At the time, I did not understand the full significance of the revelation. I simply thought that it was a great way to make a living and to branch out on my own. Little did I know that God had given me the idea for this very purpose.
What purpose is that? … for the purpose of my quest. Aside from God himself, these materials are the foundation for making a global circumnavigation a reality. Without these materials the quest truly would be impossible. With these materials, the quest becomes technically plausible.
Of course, the materials do not solve the problems related to feasibility or to viability, nor do they make me stronger or younger, and neither do they make me more wise. Yet, without these materials there would be no use in even attempting the conquest. Let me explain why.
Yesterday I told you about Fiann Paul and the “Impossible Row.” Keep in mind that while Fiann and his five companions were able to cross the Drake Passage (610 miles) unassisted on human power alone, their boat (the Ohana) is so large and heavy that it had to be lowered down into the ocean water with a crane. As strong and powerful as these six men are, there is not a ghost of a chance that they could cart that boat across the entire continent of Antarctica, even if the boat was empty. Moreover, they only had enough supplies in their boat to get them across the Drake Passage.
From what I understand, they were expecting the journey to take approximately 20 days. Moreover, they operated on the principle that they would all experience significant weight loss due to food rationing: burning as much as 10,000 calories/day, but eating only about 6,000 calories/day. If they packed their boat with enough food to get them across Antarctica, the boat would be that much heavier. Furthermore, the food rationing would leave them much too weak for the expedition across the ice. Therefore, they would need to pack that much more food. Additionally, they would need all the materials, equipment, and additional supplies for the expedition across the ice, as well as a means of getting across the ice.
Certainly, they would need a bigger boat to fit all the necessary gear and supplies into. With a bigger boat they certain could propel it; they are all big strong men. Yet they would move much slower, and it would take them considerably more time to cross the passage. With such an outfitting, could they even make it across the passage? Probably not! Even if they could, how could they make it across the continent? If they made it across the continent, how could they possible row across an even bigger ocean passage to reach Tasmania or New Zealand? They could refresh their supplies in McMurdo, but they would still be looking at distance of 2628 miles (4204 km) from McMurdo, Antarctica to Port Arthur, Tasmania, Australia.
Looking that these facts, the problem seems to be absolutely insurmountable, so how could I say that the conquest would be “technically plausible” with the use of these advanced materials? The answer is that the materials by themselves are not enough to solve the problem. It all depends on how the materials are used. Again, this is where several other ideas in which God gave me revelations (in years past) come into play.
I am not saying that I am a smart boy! I am not! I am simply blessed that I have a righteous and faithful God that is infinitely intelligent and infinitely wise. It is God that has given me the patterns and the concepts to follow, as well as the understanding to comprehend His instructions. After all, the conquest to circumnavigate the Earth is God’s plan. It is not my plan! I am simply following orders, as a faithful servant.
**Noah's Ark and the deluge from Zubdat-al Tawarikh – 1583
Just as Noah and Moses (and Solomon and others) obediently followed God’s instructions and plans; so am I:
“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” – Genesis 6:22 KJV
“According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.” – Exodus 25:9 KJV
Only God can give us true wisdom.
“With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.” – Job 12:16 KJV
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” – Psalms 111:10 KJV
“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” – Proverbs 2:6 KJV
Nevertheless, I do not understand but a small fraction of God’s entire plan, neither do I understand all of His purposes. In effect, I have no idea how I am even going to make it to Singapore in a prepared state to embark. The preparation required for this conquest is staggering to my little finite mind. In the coming weeks and months, I will be discussing many of the challenges. The number of topics involved could never be exhausted in this forum, but I will do my best to paint an interesting picture of what is involved.
Even so, the primary purpose of this affair is to communicate to you and to all that visit this site how great the love of God is and how excellent His holy Word is. His love is far greater than you could ever know. If the Lord be willing, I will publish another post tomorrow that will set the stage on which God will show us a small sample of how awesome His love truly is.
