GOOD TIMES WERE TO BE HAD , and he enjoyed these moments more than he’d admit aloud . when beers in the belly and far-fetched stories of the past sat on everybody’s tongue . even susan , uptight as always , seemed to mellow out in times like these . arthur felt himself step forward , taking his hand in her’s , the other laid lightly to her waist . they began to move , javier’s guitar urging along some kind of steady rhythm . “ i’ll try my BEST not to go steppin’ on your toes . ” a playful grin’s sent her way , but it ain’t a lie : arthur morgan is not exactly what you’d call graceful . “ can’t make no promises , though . ”

He never thought he would get this moment, this bit of vulnerability. The two often bickered, never had a heart to heart moment. The bottle of alcohol between them seemed to help. He wasn’t drunk, but he did feel a bit of a buzz.
Then she spoke, a ripple in the silence. Sean would’ve said his usual retort to what she said, but he felt like it would ruin the moment. Bring them back to bickering at each other. He would’ve said that Miss Jones was having a moment of vulnerability; a clearness.
❝ If ya’ really want to, we can. I don’t think anyone would mind. Haven’t so far. ❞ His voice was soft as he stared out at the sky above, his arms around Karen. He really hoped he wouldn’t have to deal with Grimshaw coming over here, bringing up a storm and yell at the two of them. They deserved a moment of peace, right?

𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐭, it was a struggle to do so, but her words hurt him more than he would let on. Sliced him like a sharp knife. He remembers little about his welcome back party, but from what he heard from the others, the comments they made, he and Karen spent a lot of time together.
Sean was too prideful and maybe so Karen, but it never seemed they were forward of their feelings when they were sober.
He was at a loss of words, he tried not to let it be known, that her words made more of an impact, but the pause before speaking might’ve been noted. His voice was low, but still carried that prideful, cocky charm.

“ ain’t too hard , miss jones . you just need focus ... and boredom . boredom definitely helps . ” horseshoe overlook couldn’t offer much ‘sides drinking and sleeping , and lenny was sure he’d probably start throwing up again if he so much as looked at a bottle of beer after last night’s valentine visit . the hunting knife sat firm in his grip , fingers splayed across the table . “ here , watch me --- ” THE BLADE WENT QUICK , tapping wood . between every little gap . it was two full rounds of that , ‘fore he found himself nicked . “ shit ! ” the knife clattered down to table , game abandoned . with thumb bleeding lightly , he brought it to his mouth . “ well , maybe i need a bit more practice , but you get the idea . ”
