turns out I still like this, but flipping it is a mistake... so don’t look at that lol. my fault for inking on paper where I can’t flip the image to check it while working ^^; but ye, bg is his on-site customisation and not my art... just wanted to see them together.

One of the art ideas I posted was ‘climbing a tree,’ and while I’m not yet up to shading, I figured I’d make something simple with Draqoui doing just that.

It’s broken, but it was an exercise in testing some new things so that’s okay :D

a couple of months on and I’m still not sure how I want to stylise Draq the darigan bruce

wip sketch page obvs... but ye, it’s been a sticking point on art for him... I want his petpage to have a set style for these things, I’m just not sure what works... sometimes I feel one thing works, but hours later I think something else is better...

Got the bg for Draq and he’s looking fancy (tho this gif’s quality could be better).

I still don’t have a UC Darigan Bruce, but Rainbird is excited at the prospect of a new friend. And even better, a penguin friend!

“Raptor” is their working name. No set name yet, as I don’t yet own them. I made a reff to explain the design a little! But I’ll put that under a cut, as it may get long.

So the colours I’ve posted so far were their bioluminescent shades :D They evolved to flash bright warning colours to deter predators. They can also flash one colour at a time (say, just the red of #5) and they can also maintain a steady/fainter glow for up to 5min.

Palette is numbered so I can specify zones! 1. Base hue of each form. 2. Darker splotches on base. 3. Inner splotches/palms. 4. Face/belly. 5. Brows, tail spade, tongue, iris. 6. Cere (the top of beak where nostrils are) 7. Beak/feet.

As it says, the base hue emits blacklight, so to our eyes that doesn’t glow HOWEVER it lights other colours up - like someone in a white shirt walking under blacklight! The other colours (excluding eyes) all emit a flash/glow of their shade, however for the sake of the reff I didn’t add those glow effects.

Not shown: They are poisonous (but not venomous) - like the pitohui bird.
