My very first free-form drawing - as in I just went off using the Staedtler pigment liners without a sketch. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so this was stepping out of the box for me, and a slightly bit terrifying as I can’t erase any mistakes. Was a very different process and I can’t deny, I had A LOT of fun drawing this one. This drawing simply started from a straight line - the one from the bottom left to top right.

My inspiration was essentially the various shapes of wings and feathers.

Anyone else trying out something new recently? :D

“Brain Critters”

Another abstract piece. It basically started from picking colours which I wanted to work with. From there I decided to just to some random lines, while covering my eyes. And from there I started seeing a bunch of little weird critters which I then drew out with a coloured pencil, letting the basic work surface of the paper work as the body for each one of them little fellas.

As a final touch-up I used a 0.05 pigment liner to trace around some of the coloured areas to give them more of a structured shape.

I had a lot of creating this piece, as I had to constantly think of creating a form of animal/critter face in the empty gaps. But a really fun exercise getting to this part from random lines just laying messed up on the paper. And I strongly recommend anyone who wants to draw but doesn’t really know what to draw to try this technique; it can turn into pretty much anything you can imagen ♥

I also used Triplus fineliners and pigment liners by Staedler to make this piece.
