I get the feeling that Timothy Zahn has a thing for Magical Shoulder-Lizards.
We got the ysalamiri in the Thrawn trilogy, and we also get the symbiotic K’da dragons in his Dragonback series.

‘Twas night and blackness all around K’da and Shontine held their ground
Aka about five minutes before Everything Goes Horribly Wrong.
Draycos in palette 17 for @schlusky - the Dragonback series wasn’t one of the ones on my list, but I made an exception because it’s a childhood favorite of mine and it has absolutely zero fandom whatsoever ;n;
If you're a Venom fan and a Thrawn fan, give Zahn's book Dragon and Thief a shot. I'm 8 chapters in and it's super great! Sci-fi, very fun read so far. $7.99 on iBooks. (Also I need people to talk to about this, I'm maybe a quarter of the way through and I already have feelings)
aesthetics: The Dragonback Series by Timothy Zahn
“Jack Morgan has a dragon on his back - literally. The warrior K'da species are symbiotes and can only live six hours without a host. Draycos is the sole survivor of the three ships destroyed scouting for their refugees, and Jack is the only possible choice. They may be an odd couple, but together they're more than the sum of their parts. They are destined to travel far and wide, facing many perils - human, alien, and other, as they seek justice and safety - Jack for himself, and Draycos for his people.”

Looking through an old sketchbook and found fanart for the Dragonback series by Timothy Zahn. I drew these in 2014 but still think they look pretty good! So here’s Jack, Draycos, and Alison.
A Sudden Weight
(AKA : WOW RUDE DRAYCOS???)
Warriors’ Fortune, Warriors’ Luck.
I’m seeing a kind of crossover between Thrawn Treason and TZ’s Dragonback series. Draycos uses a very similar phrase to the Chiss’ “warriors’ fortune” blessing that occasionally pops up in TT.
So now I’m starting to wonder whether Thrawn and Draycos would be good buddies...they have so much in common, with both coming from honorable, proud-warrior backgrounds and having an appreciation for art (or poetry, in Draycos’s case--he never hesitates to remind Jack Morgan that he’s a “Poet-Warrior of the K’da”.)
