[Part 1 / ?] The Man Beneath the Tree

From some point in my life, I have never been able to forget the dreams I saw.

The scenes I see in my sleep burn themselves into my eyes, so much so that they often overlap with the scenes I see in reality.

Particularly, when I see trees.

I feel as though if I look behind the thick oak trunks, the man will be sitting there, still watching and waiting. With his thin lips stretched out into a kind smile that reveals his hollow mouth, spindly limbs wrapped around him, as if to hide from something.

With the rustle of leaves that each rush of breeze brings, I can almost hear his chuckles, whispery and brittle but steady, as though my presence gives him the little strength it takes to keep him from shattering.

And, if I get lost enough in that line between reality and dream, I can almost hear the creaking of his joints, the tremble of the wings of the butterflies around us; goosebumps prickle my skin and my hair stands on edge, as my body tenses in anticipation for what's to come.

Trying to finally name these guys, (I wanna put them on artfight agdba) but I'm not super set on these yet, I think I like Jack and Antony, but I'm more on the fence about the other two.
