I've been doing online workshops on journaling (dream journaling, spirit journaling, art journaling & manifest journaling). Its been an amazing experience so far as the amazing people I've met and their stories as well as their creativity. Journaling is a healing method as well as a opener to your creative abilities such as writing, art, creating ideas, gaining insights, inner wisdom and understanding. So much can be gained from the different types of journaling as it frees your heart and mind for authentic expression and self rediscovery. You never know what you will find and discover when writing your story and your observations. ✨"Who is that?"✨ . . I love asks. The latest person to purchase my newest dream journal sent me this snapshot from the book along with the above question. . . This is my mother, Rosetta. 🌹 Dreamer in the sense that she had lofty ideals which didn't always find good soil. I grew up listening to her stories about Paris, Ghana, and Cuba in the 60's. How she enjoyed that freedom of movement, the culture, the shops and bistros. . . Zet was an artist. She enjoyed designing women's clothing and entertaining... so joyful and lighthearted she was. We would sing along loudly with her Dionne Warwick or Mariam Makeba recods, while laughing together and dancing 🎶 Good memories. . . Once she told me how, while visiting Paris with her fiancee, she found he was being unfaithful so she decided to come back home to the States. Somewhere along the way she had a chance to meet Maya Angelou, to whom she voiced her fears about traveling home alone. . . Ms. Angelou told her, "You can read the symbols on airport signs cant you?" . My mother replied, "Yes." . "Then you can find your way home," answered Angelou. . . The Nondead Games

I sat in silence with my father-person and grandmother-person in the elevator annex of the Grand Sharke Hotel in an unnamed city in France.

My father wanted to talk about what I would be doing once I make the move to Europe official, but I kept wordlessly stalling him by mouthing "not now" and pointing at my grandmother. My father began texting me instead. He told me that Europe had cultures very different from those of the USA and that I should be careful not to get involved in things that I would later regret. He told me about the time in his youth when he joined an occult secret society and was forced to burn their club-house to the ground to fake his own death and then grow a mustache to hide his identity.

He was starting a thought about personal dedication to one's goals when his phone beeped, indicating that he had received an email. He gave me a "one-minute" signal with his hand and began scanning the email. I checked the time on my phone and realized that this would be my only chance to still get to the Grand Opening Ceremony on-time. I stood, pressed the UP elevator button and then excused myself from the pair's presence to attend a pressing appointment. My father grunted and didn't look up from his phone. I dashed into the opening elevator and hit "E" for the grand-ballroom upstairs.

When I arrived and the doors slid open, the Pre-Game Party was already underway, nearly finished in-fact. Music thumped in a clubbing reverie in-spite of the beaming evening light that filled the room from the tall windows. I checked in with the DJ as event staff and signed my name onto the list of preapproved immunities. I was the last member to arrive and they were very relieved that I had. Moments after I signed my name, the DJ announced that it was time for the Nondead Games to begin.

A person in full-body camouflage gently leaned away from a far-wall and blew a single dart at a random guest's neck. It was a young man with short dirty-blonde hair, who snarled excited as the dart pierced him and its contents flowed into his body. His skin turned a dim pallid grey and his eyes glowed blood-red. He immediately turned to the nearest person and bit them on the arm. Many people began to panic and run from the growing zombie threat. Meanwhile, over at the staff table, we were passing around electric syringes filled with the inoculant to the infection while making idle chat. One of the ushers had scored a job interview at a small bookstore in the uptown. As we talked, one of the zombies lurched toward us, and we seamlessly made room to intercept it so that two of the staff could lead it back to the chaos in the center of the room.

It was a somewhat dull job. Conversion was slow at this stage, and it was taking quite some time for half of the participants to become infected. A few party-goers even took one for the team just to get the ball rolling for zombie momentum. Once only half of the party remained uninfected, the DJ declared the end of round 1 and told all participants to join their designated usher to be led to one of the 4 separate locations for round 2. One usher produced a cylindrical chrome instrument and, when twisted, caused all of the zombies in the room to freeze perfectly still while the uninfected were rounded up and ushered away in even groups. I followed group three and took the elevator down to the UPS store level.

On our way to the floor, I noticed that one of the participants didn't seem to be very aware of his surroundings. He looked about 90 years old and didn't respond in any way to my attempts to interact with him. I asked if anyone knew who he was and everyone shook their heads or professed ignorance. I decided to follow the old man and make sure that he could be accounted for after the games.

Once group three reached the floor-wide UPS store, which was already evacuated for us, we spread out and were told we had 30 seconds until the start of round 2. I led the old man by hand to a far corner of the room and faced him towards a table of binding supplies next to a copier. I looked toward the center of the room and saw a group of about twelve zombies shuffling their way into the room from the hotel breezeway. Round two had begun. I waited until one of the zombies saw me and the old man and then carefully backed away to give it access to the gentleman. The zombie stopped beside him and stared at him for a moment before biting him gently on the arm. The old man turned grey and finally started to move (towards me). At least if he was a zombie, we could easily keep track of him. I deftly dodged and ducked my way out of their range and began carefully heading for the elevator. It was then that I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder as I was shot with a dart.

I pulled it out in a hurry and turned to address the shooter. I could just barely make out a profile of a person in full camo pressed against the far wall behind me. I waved and shouted, "STAFF! Hello? Watch where you're shooting!" The shooter detached from the wall and prepared to fire another dart at me. I reflexively started running at a perpendicular to the shooter. Something was wrong. I examined the dart still clutched in my hand and realized that it was not the colour of an infection booster. It was yellow instead of red and had the words "NDV Resensitizer" written in small print on the label at the base. I assumed the worse case scenario that I had lost my immunity to the virus and that the next dart would be an infecting one. I continued running and ducking toward the auxiliary street-level exit at the other side of the room. I saw other people being hit with darts and things started to come together.

A single usher ran towards me with a knife as I had nearly reached the revolving exit door. She held the knife at her hip and politely reminded me as I approached her that leaving the physical vicinity of the games was against the rules and would result in my termination. I gave her a wide berth and rushed into the door. I began to push just as I noticed that there were zombies outside coming toward the door. I flung myself backwards and rolled to the right before spotting a "UPS Staff Only" door a dozen feet away. A dart clanged against the revolving doors and I heard running footsteps closing in on me. I somersaulted forward and sprinted for the door. As I swung it open and ran inside, I heard the usher behind me shouting, "You were warned! Now you will be terminated....by harpoon gun."

The door swung shut behind me and I ran through a room I didn't even pay attention to as another door sat on the wall in front of me. It would lead to the other half of the circular storeroom-floor. I rushed through it and saw zombies coming at me from several directions. I carefully found a path around each group and dashed for a big glass sliding door that led to a small annex exiting to the street. I slide inside and started hyperventilating to catch my breath. It was then that I saw something shimmer in the distance, two stories up and parallel to the wall of the hotel above me. I rolled to the right in a panic. A massive spiney whaling harpoon shot through the glass enclosure and embedded into the floor inches left of my head. I only was afraid for a split second before something occurred to my racing mind. I lunged for the cord of the harpoon and tied the fastest square knot of my life around my my right arm. The two ushers with knives opened the sliding glass door behind me. I screamed "Fuck this!" and the harpoon suddenly began retracting very fast.

I tucked my head under my sweater-clothed arms and smashed through the remains of the glass where the harpoon had entered. I went flying through the air at what felt like 40 mph. Cars, people and streets rushed by underneath me and I climbed higher and higher into the air. I saw the source of the cable ahead of me, a balcony on the side of a mushroom-shaped building (the marine-science museum). As I approached, the cable slowed down and I reoriented myself into a human cannonball. I heard somewhat say "What.." before I smashed into something with a hideous cracking sound and rebounded into the floor of the balcony. The harpoon clattered to the floor beside me.

I opened my eyes and tried to move. I could move. I didn't feel at all hurt. Then I looked around and say that the harpoon operator was on the ground, writhing silently and clutching his throat. I pulled the knot loose and freed my arm. Then I ran into the museum and dashed down the stairs as quickly as possible. Ran out into the street and started walking as calmly as I could in the most crowded direction. My body started to ache and my stomach heaved, but my mind was nearly blank. I realized I needed to figure out what to do next. I decided that I needed to get help from my brother at the Nordic subway station and then plan a rescue mission for my dad and grandmother. I took off my sweater and tied it around my waist. I tried to find a transit map.

Then I woke up.
