Dream Letters : 1. Lucas

Dearest Lucas,

I’ve done it love, or I guess when you get this letter it will be done, this is my final goodbye to you. I can’t keep letting it go on like this. All this tyranny from Schlatt and his so-called government, it has to end. You always were the light of my life, that one thing that kept me going through this hell. 

My L’Manburg, remember that Lucas? The song I used to sing you to sleep when you would have another restless night? It will always be our L’Manburg, just for us, no one will be able to take it away, it will just be you and me. That’s the thing though Lucas, as much as I may love you, I also know that it will be cruel for me to not write this letter even though I know how much pain it will bring, I may be a man with little morals but that doesn’t mean I’m cold hearted. 

At the festival, L’Manburg will be history, our history. Dream helped me set up the whole thing, while everyone will be distracted by TechnoBlade, I will sneak away. The button will be pressed, the button that will end all this madness, to finally bring me to the peace I’ve always needed. Then I’ll die, my very last life will be gone, and I’ll be dead, taken from this world.

Am I the bad guy Lucas? Truly I’ve always been asking myself that, since the day I stumbled upon that drug van. I’ve brought Tommy into a life of murder, war, and hatred, he’s only a child but has more trauma that a seventy-year old man in the army. I’ve hurt my son in so many ways, not being a great father, trapping his mother away in a chest. And then there’s you, the one person that has loved me despite all I’ve done, despite how many people’s lives I’ve ruined.

I love you Lucas, I always have, but this has to be goodbye. Please take your time, we’ll be together one day, I can’t wait till I’ll get to see you again.

                  ‘     alright ,    alright .    but   just    this   once ,    okay ?    ’      he   wasn’t   sure   why    he   didn’t   immediately   burst    out   laughing   at   the    mere   suggestion ,    never    mind   give    into    all   together .    it    was   probably   safe   to    say   that   banri   was   feeling    GENEROUS    this    evening ,    as    it   was   no    secret    that   he   wasn’t    usually   one    to    indulge    in    his    troupe - mates    childish    requests .    but    there   was    just   something    about   the   crisp    autumn    air   that    put    him   in   a    mood   somewhat    more    chipper ,    even   SOFTER   than   normal .    he   slowed   his    steps    to   crouch    down    in   front    of   the   other ,    hoisting   him    up    and    onto    his    back    with   a   swift    upwards - sweeping    motion    onto    his    back .       ‘     y’know ,    you’re    heavier    than   you    look .    especially    for   someone    so   small .    ’

 ᴀᴄᴛs ᴏғ ɪɴᴛɪᴍᴀᴄʏ – ♡ – Accidentally falling asleep together.

❀      A    great    deal    of    ENERGY    is    required    to    create    full    costumes    for    upwards    of    six performers.  With    time    constraints    and    picky    actors    to    boot,    Yuki’s    free   time    is    practically nonexistent    before    his    unforeseen    arrangement    with    his    D U M B    D O G G Y   is    formed–    Arrangement    being    community    service,    in    a    more    practical    sense.   Since    then,    Taichi    is    by    the    prodigy’s    side   more    often    than    ANY    one    person.    This    in    itself    is    unusual,    as    ordinarily    Yuki    doesn’t    let    people    get    too    close;   always    on    the    DEFENSIVE…    always    looking    for    a    reason    to    hide    his    true    feelings.    He    yearns    to    fit    in,    and    even    more    deeply    does    he    yearn   for   someone    who    will    A C C E P T    him    as    he    is–    be    it    platonic    or    romantic.  

These    latent    sentiments    rise    to    the    surface    with    every    passing    hour    and    conversation    the two    share.    Gradually,    barriers    come    down,    and    Yuki    finds    himself    acutely    A W A R E    of    the lingering    brushes    of    hands    and    shoulders.    To    share    his    PERSONAL    space    and    passion    of creating    garments    with    someone    else…    it    would    be    unheard    of    for    the    Yuki   whom   existed a    year    prior.    It    is    outlandishly    easy    for    him    to    spend   time    in    the    autumn    troupe member’s   presence,    perhaps    too    easy,   occasionally   afflicting    a    sense    of    DEJA    VU.

      Fluorescence    signal    the    early    morning,   as    does    the    dew    littering    the   windows.    His   little helper    has    been    working    tirelessly    by    his    side    ALL    NIGHT    to    complete    last    minute preparations    for    spring    troupe.    Within    a    rhythm    of    hand    embroidering    a    shirt    pocket,    Yuki  is    at    first    unaware    of    the    boy    nodding    off    next    to    him.    Of    course,    there    has    been    no complaint    or    stifled    sob    for   Q U I T E   some    time,    so    he    can    only    assume    the    boy    has nodded    off.    A    silent    yawn    breaks    through    parted    lips    as   the    needle    breaks    through    the underside    of    the    shirt    and    is    tied    off.   As    eyes    scan    over    the   finished   garment   one    final time,   the    culmination    of    lack    of    sleep    WASHES   over    him. 

    “ That’s    the   last    of    it.. ”    The    boy    mutters    to    himself,    flopping    back    onto    the    couch    and    brushing    against    the    other’s    sleeping    form.    Tilting    his    head    just    in    time    to    watch    Taichi’s    LULL    to    the    side   and    rest    against    his    shoulder,    Yuki   F R E E Z E S.   Unsure    if    the    other    is    feigning    unconsciousness,    he    reaches    out    to    gently    pat    his    knee.    “ Taichi…  the   costumes    are    done. ”    Yuki    is    quiet,    and    almost    pleasant    in    comparison    to    his    usual    brash   tone,    as    if    intentionally    holding    back    out    of    courtesy    of    rousing    him.    When    NO    RESPONSE    comes    but    the    sound    of    lengthy    breaths,    the    younger    boy    relaxes.    Quickly    setting    aside  the    extra    fabric    and    tools    in    Taichi’s    lap,    he    cannot    help    but    SIGH    at    his    own    fawning.   “ You    worked    hard    tonight.   Thanks… ”   His    recognition    falls    on    deaf    ears,   UNABLE    to    bring    himself    to say    something   genuine  throughout    the    work    day. 

    As    if    his    words    reach    him    through    the    f o g   of    unconsciousness,    Yuki    feels    Taichi    shift against    him,    and    something    BRUSH    over    the    top    of    his    hand.    Digits    belonging    to    the SLEEPING    form    beside    him    trace    patterns   over   Yuki’s    skin,    as    if   still   sewing,  before   recessing and    l a c i n g    over    his    fingers.  Pulse    sounding    in    his    ears,    the    teen    tightly    purses    his    lips together    in    an    A T T E M P T    to    control    his    nerves… unaccustomed    to    this    level    of    casual affection    from    anyone    but    his    parents.   Resignedly    reaching    for    his    lamp,    the    room    casts into    darkness    as    Yuki    harmlessly    looks    towards    the    other.    A    pinky   g r a d u a l l y   extends itself    to    hook    around    the    finger    nearest    to    him,    as    he    settles    in    beside    the   teen   and leans    his    own    head    atop    Taichi’s.  

Well…   he    can    rest    easy    for    a    few    hours    before    his    roommate    rouses.   

 …No    harm    done,    right?

❀    Feathery     lashes     shade     the     amber     eyes     of     the      seamstress,     resolved      to     perfecting his     latest     artistry.     He     finds     this     quite     difficult     to     do     under     regular     circumstances,    and even     more     so     when     someone’s     STARE     is     boring     into     him--     watching     his     every    move.     Company     other     than     his     I R R I T A T I N G     dorm-mate     is     welcome     with     open   arms,     however...     Taichi     has     been     spending     nearly     as     much     time     in     his      presence    as the      summer      troupe      members.      It     would     not     be     a     S H O C K     to      uncover      the redhead     had     memorized     his     ENTIRE     schedule...     since     he     seems     to      have     a     knack   for      recon.      Rather     Taichi     be     under      his     watch     than      wreaking      havoc      elsewhere,     he convinces      himself,      though      Yuki      knows     the     boy     would     never     commit     such     a     deed again.     His      bond      with     MANKAI     is     far     too     strong.

“ ...What?     Stop     staring     at     me. ”     Yuki     mutters     aside,     lips     pursing     as     a    thin stream     of     air     blows     over     the     drying     sealant     adorning     his     nails.     Eyes      lock     with   the older     male’s     for     a     split     second--    knowing     from     FAMILIARITY     that     his     gaze     is      all     it takes     for     him     to     MOULD     to     his    WILL.     “ Do     you     want     me    to     paint     your nails     too     or    something? ”

          Nothing like breaking a schoolboy’s hopes and dreams. Once Chikage had overheard Taichi’s little crush, it didn’t take too long to connect the dots; with all the details laid out clearly ( and somehow only Taichi going from Point A to Point 3 ). It’s about time this romcom ends.

          “Nanao, I have something tell you,” Chikage says suddenly in the common room of the theatre, wearing a smile that in this situation appeared like a wolf about to attack the helpless sheep. “It’s about the source of that little crush of yours. I believe I know where ‘she’ is.”
