I do sometimes wonder...why would anyone want to awaken dreamer in the age of dreams is it something like the caligula effect main class. They want to get back to the real world even if it hurts or something more. And also do you think dreamer could be considered a god long enough into the age of dreams because from the looks of it and please correct me if i am wrong they are holding multiple consciousnesses in their mindscape the entirety of a world and that requires a lot of mental power. So i return to my question....can dreamer be confidently called divine long enough into the age of dreams?
Despite reader technically being a human, they are considered a god among many people within the Lands Between, even before they awaken and create an Age of Dreams. A lot of them viewed them as a companion to St. Trina due to both of them dealing with Dreams. Miquella commissioned many works of art depicting dreamer (statues, paintings, tapestries) that were all displayed in the Haligtree. Ranni would leave offerings for Dreamer for when they would return.
When Dreamer disappears is when actual worshiping starts, causing the common consensus that Dreamer is a god. Dreamer is wrote about in texts, followers of them create perfumes and incenses that can induce dreams. These creations are most popular with those who once used the Haligtree as a safe heaven, omen born and misbegotten. After Godwyn dies, the undead and those who are infected with death root have visions of Dreamer due to Godwyn's yearning for them. There is often bits and pieces of Deathroot found near statues of Dreamer.
Slightly before the Shattering, an extremist cult of Dreamer is born, using the potions and perfumes once used to induce dreams to induce nightmares and create order. Their potions are also used as drugs by those who are obsessed with the "blessed dreams" that they induce. This causes Dreamers followers to be viewed in a bad light, causing them to be targeted by the Tarnished and other enemies.
By the time the Shattering happens, most visages of Dreamer as destroyed and the only writings that are born are ones deep away in Leyndell. Views on Dreamer have become split, some calling them a "false god" or "false prophet", as they were never actually a god, instead a human hidden among them. Some people push the idea that Dreamer manipulated Marika and their family, pretending to come from an other world when in reality they were a con artist. However, those who are loyal to Dreamer still exist. The most common of them, the ones that aren't Demi-gods or closely related to the royal family, are Dream Cultists addicted to their own perfumes, mumbling about an Age of Dreams. Despite their seemingly inebriated state, they are hostile to anyone who shows hatred to Dreamer, and are peaceful and sympathetic towards the suffering.
This is when reader returns, showing up to the Land Between, proving their existence. It's one of the reasons why Dreamer needs protection from the Tarnished, because many people blame them for the Shattering, or for even ruining the Royal Family.
So when it comes to reader being viewed as a god, they are, pre and post shattering. Even way into the Age of Dreams, they are seen as a god.
