not the greatest at analysing stuff, but bear with me

i love the way that Dreamsmasher looks like the result of someone researching how to make the most marketable superhero

what i mean by that is:

-cape AND shoulderpads: both commonly used as by heroic or regal figures

-toolbelt: adds praticality to his outfit, even of he doesn‘t actually use it

-colours: gold, white, light blue and yellow are rather commonly used by heroic figures, due to being brighter colours. Plus the black base layer gives it cohesion and makes it easy to remember(and thus „iconic“)

-his symbol: same as with the previous, an upside down power button is very easy to remember and recognize

-the helmet: both obscures his identity and via the display and movable ears makes him more cartoonish in his behavious and thus more approachable

couple that with his “classic, over the top, superhero behavior“ and you have a perfect character to promote and sell merch of, while also using him for real power and influence in the dream world
