On this day, about 5 years ago, I sat outside of the Bob Hope airport in Burbank with tears in my eyes and a broken heart. My heart broke because I wanted her to stay longer. The tears were sadness escaping the breaks from that heart.
The days before that, we spent naked in Malibu. We would wake up to huge glass walls that faced the ocean, and the smell of sea deep inside our nostrils. We barely left that house for a thing.
I remember walking the tiny pier next to Paradise Cove and reading the: “No Jumping,” sign. I snapped a picture of it, and then a few more of her. I wanted every day ahead of me to be this way. I didn’t want to work anymore. I didn’t want her to work anymore. Maybe we could have made that happen, but I don’t think that our restless souls were ready for it.
I didn’t plan on things coming full circle, though. I like to think that our lives and those timelines that we live are pretty linear.
I wonder why the heart can’t resist what the mind asks it to. I wonder if it happens to us all. I wonder if doing what our hearts want to do is the fastest way to destruction or the fastest way to the promised land.
My heart doesn’t chat much with me anymore. It doesn’t need to. For once, heart, mind and soul are one. We’re all on the same page. There’s no spinning in circles because neither are tugging in opposite directions.
One day, maybe we’ll go grab a cup of coffee and a glass of wine. The coffee will be to awaken us from this nightmare we had to endure in the meantime. The wine will be to intoxicate ourselves back into each other's dreams.

The Dreamsnatcher - Book Review
When we received our copy of The Dream Snatcher, the debut novel of Abi Elphinstone it was with my daughter in mind, but it was my 8 year old son (this book is aimed at age 9+ but as a huge reader I thought he could handle it) who claimed first dibs on it. Here’s a little look at what he made of it.
James is a huge Skullduggery Pleasant fan so the promise of dark magic and the mention of Oracle…
