"Strange to see you in here by yourself," Alfie acknowledges in greeting at the sight of Drew after enough time had passed that there wasn't a taller, stranger named former football player with him like usual. "I hope that means no 52 card pick-up. I'm still finding cards in random places from the last time."

"Nope. No. Absolutely not."
The response was immediate as soon as Thea registered who had just sidled up next to her at the bar. She glanced over Drew's shoulder to make sure that her coworkers were exactly where she'd left them, out of earshot.
She looked back at him, blood rushing into her cheeks.
"I thought I told you that what happened between us," her eyes darted around the bar again, "is never happening again."

Sharky's was fucking spooky when it was empty.
Lawrence sauntered in, twirling his keys — one of which was a spare to the back door, illicitly handed over by Baby years ago and that Elliot would certainly murder him for having — around his finger.
"Yo!" he called out into the empty space, before sing-songing, "Babyyyyy. Where the fuck are you? Anybody here?"

"Hang on, hang on. I'm pulling it together. I'm fine. I'm—"
Sola took one good look at Drew before doubling over again, flopping over the top of the bar and definitely aggravating the impatient patrons who had been waiting for a good five minutes for Sola to stop laughing.
She coughed and wheezed and wiped a few stray tears from the corners of her eyes before finally being able to look at him fully, giggles still wracking her body.
"Like, I promise this is a compliment. I swear to god. You look so fucking good. Like, okay short king, I see you."

"Bunch up, Ohara," Elliot ordered as she joined Drew behind the bar, rolling up her sleeves. She hip checked him out of her way lightly for good measure as she reached for the rye and vermouth. "And grab me a cherry, will you? And bitters."
Patrons were just starting to shuffle in for a show, which usually would've been Elliot's cue to call it a night and let the staff handle the proceedings, but it looked like she was going to have to take matters into her own hands for this one. The Manhattan she was making was for her; there was no way she'd be able to get through this sober.
"Fred called in an audible again," she grumbled as she stirred. "So you're stuck with me for the night. I really need to fire that fuckin' guy."
