«Really? Are you from one of those universes where anybody can end up with a newspark, or did something weird happen to you, too?»
Rodimus is from a universe where, up until him, children were an aberration caused by an incomplete forging of a new mech: they were accidents that happened in factories, with no “parents” involved. So he lacks the cultural associations that Drift might have with carrying a sparkling; he doesn’t know that this is something he should probably congratulate Drift for, or that he should ask who the father is. (He doesn’t even know there is a “father.”) Still, what he does know is that this means Drift’s shortly going to be responsible for a tiny, naive, uncoordinated little person who’s going to depend on him for survival—and Rodimus is willing to do anything he can to help out Drift and the new little mech.
«Hey, I think half-forged mechs in my ‘verse work different than in universes where anybody can have them, but, if you want any advice—I’ve gone through over a hundred of them, I’d be happy to teach you what I know. Oh, and I met one of your alternates who’s apparently made some sparklings, you might wanna talk to him. I’m still looking for experts on treating half-forged mechs, but if I find any I’ll send you their comms too, all right?»
«And if it’s gonna need mechs on its mental level to associate with, I’ve got a couple with me right now and more in the works. Hey! Do you wanna meet them? So you’ll know what to expect when yours turns on.»
