ABSTRACT FAMILY AU MASTER POST
Abstract family AU in short definition is an AU where a handful of ship-kids all created from the same Ink, find themselves living together under one roof and trying to function as a family.
There are six members in total.
The oldest is Paperjam who is 20 years old, he was the first child Ink ever made. And it was admittedly, completely on accident. PJ runs the house, whether he wants to or not. He makes sure they are fed, won’t die and leave him alone. He is rather rude and apathetic for the most part. But he’s working a tough job being the only adult. So when he goes out the others make sure not to burn the house down.

Gradient is believed to be the second oldest at 16. It could be Blueprint but they don’t really know. Still Gradient is Paperjam’s complete biological brother and they have the closest connection. Though the two are known to bicker and squabble, Gradient also mimics PJ a lot without realising. Their bond goes way back. Further then anyone else in the house could understand.
Gradient like his brother, tends to be rather rude. He’s known to be more of a nuisance, making pranks and straight up bullying his half siblings. Unlike PJ however, he is genuinely nice and loves to talk about his own interests and hang out. He won’t admit it but he enjoys the company of his half siblings.

Blueprint is also 16 years old. They don’t know if he’s older or younger than Gradient, but he lets himself be the younger to make the other happy. Blueprint was raised in Underswap with his father Blue and uncle Paps. He also grew up side by side with Palette. So while not technically completely related by blood, the two see each other as complete siblings.
Blueprint is the breadwinner of the group. Holding a job in the Omega timeline to help in construction; even if his passion leans more towards puzzles. He is the most level headed and responsible of the group, preventing fights and being the peace keeper. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t goof off though. He’s still a teenager.

Palette is 15 years old and is the second youngest of the family. His father Dream didn’t have the tools to actively raise him while at war with his uncle Nightmare, so Palette was raised by Swap Sans with Blueprint as his older brother. Dream still made sure to visit, trying to be there for Palette but their relationship is more of an admiration then father son bond.
Palette is a high energy goof ball. He loves to be nosy, talk to people and make new friends. He’s particularly known for bugging Gradient or hanging out with Sticker. He tends to be the prime victim of Gradient and PJ’s teasing, but he knows it’s out of love.

Goth is 15 years old and is believed to be older then Palette. While he isn’t actually Ink’s kid. He was still created by Ink just using both of his parents magic. Goth was only raised by Geno in the save screen as apparently when Reaper first saw him, he ended up having some sort of crisis at the idea that the god of death created life. And left Geno to raise him.
Goth is very different from his canon counterpart. He is more reserved and nervous to meet new people, preferring the quiet and reading. People watching is a great hobby of theirs but was introduced to the others by Core!frisk and Palette. So the family considers Goth to be their cousin and welcome him with open arms.

Sticker is the baby of the family at 6 years old. He was evidently raised by the others who worked together to keep him alive. Despite being a half parasite PJ has enough sense not to go to Fresh for help, knowing that man might not be keen on offspring like this.
Sticker is considered the weird one of the family, and that’s saying something. With him constantly leaking paint from his hands, coughing up stickers and having a parasite in him skull, the others have just kind of learned to roll with it. Palette is the closest to Sticker, making an effort to not alienate the youngest despite the almost 10 year age gap. Taking Sticker to school and drawing together is a common way they bond.

But how did it end up this way? How were they all created? You may be asking. It’s simple.
They were all created by mixing together soul magic from both parties in a certain way. Because Ink lacks a soul, it ended up being a much more difficult process. But using his attack magic as a substitute was what created PJ.
Pj was created in the battlefield of the Anti-Void while Ink and Error fought. When he emerged from a puddle of ink entangled in blue strings, the two stopped their fighting. It resulted in a very long conversation what to do with the ‘blog baby.’ Because of Ink’s extremely forgetful nature and Error having the ability to feel bad for this kid. Error agreed to help raise PJ since Ink would forget to even come back.
And it stayed like that for a while. Four years actually. Raising a child was a battle for Error and his haphephobia, he always expressed a dislike for PJ but made sure he was ok. Ink however, grew bored after four years and so he started thinking more about how PJ was created and started experimenting. This time using his own bones rather then paint and one day, he returned home with another bundle of bones in his arms.
Error was pissed. Furious even. Taking care of one kid was hard enough with the little help Ink gave. Two kids was out of the question. They yelled for a long time, like the world around them didn’t matter anymore.
Until Error left. Even when PJ cried, Ink left too. After all, he wanted to see what else he could make.
Leaving PJ to raise Gradient on his own.
Ink continued his experiments. Soon started showing up around his old friend swap Sans and soon enough, one day barged into his AU with Blueprint. The brothers were admittedly freaked out and Blue made Ink promise he wouldn’t make anymore kids. But promises don’t last long if you don’t remember them.
Roughly a year later, Ink continued to experiments once he found a scarf to remind him. He started trying to make a kid without his own magic but rather two separate people and when they proved successful he decided to try with Dream’s soul. After all it was a golden apple and had its own properties. After trial and error he grew successful and proudly revealed his creation to Dream.
Dream much like Swap, knew of Ink’s neglect of other people’s feels when it came to his own curiosities and was admittedly upset. He swore to keep Ink under supervision so this could NOT repeat itself anymore. However between watching Ink, fighting his brother and his AU being a wasteland. Dream couldn’t raise a child. So with his tail between his legs, Dream went to Blue. After some negotiation, Palette grew up in Underswap where he could receive a proper education and support system. And not be stuck in the middle of his family fighting.
All of them grew up in their own worlds completely oblivious to their step siblings experiences.
PJ ended up finding refuge in Ink’s old AU _____Tale. living in the incomplete house that would have belonged to Ink. However as time passed, Blueprint and Palette became curious of the Multiverse and when visiting the Omega timeline, Core!frisk ended up mentioning of other siblings existences. So, despite PJ’s bitter words they met. And shortly after Palette was begging to stay with them.
To have his own room, to get to know his step sibling and see the Multiverse? It was a dream come true. After days of begging from Palette, Blueprint, Swap sans and Core!frisk. PJ and Gradient didn’t get a choice anymore. Palette and Blueprint ended up staying over a few days a week, learning about the bitter siblings and how different they are. Palette ended up meeting Goth in his exploration of the Multiverse. Quickly becoming friends, Geno politely informing them of their connection to the same Ink. Since Goth never really had a home, living in the save screen, they were brought into the mismatched family too.
Dream continued to supervise and check up on Ink for years but the man learned how to sneak around. He kept brewing on new ideas and eventually came up with a new experiment. It took years to collect everything without Dream getting suspicious. But when he showed up to PJ and the others with a sixth kid? Paperjam snapped. Proceeding to destroy any scarfs with the information of creating any more like them and kicking Ink out of his life.
Palette, Blueprint and Goth hadn’t been staying at the house permanently at the time, But soon after meeting Sticker, they all decided to give a hand in making sure their new youngest sibling got the chance at life. Creating a dysfunctional family of kids all trying to cope with the trauma’s Ink caused. Just wanting to get by in life.
The AU itself now follows the daily lives of these characters as they continue to learn more about each other and properly process what they have been through. Feel free to ask Questions about any of them. I may also create small comics but we shall see.
