“Be a bartender first” - Sean Kenyon
Some words of wisdom from Sean Kenyon, circa 2011, via Westword:
My father -- who, in fact, is a bartender -- used to say, “A title and a quarter will get you a pack of bubblegum." Gum is a bit more expensive now, but you get the point...
Let's talk about the most-often-used title, Mixologist. Created in the mid-1800s as a humorous reference to bartenders, it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek then -- but now is embraced as a "serious" title by many (too serious) bartenders world-wide. As evidenced by the many fancy titles that PWPDs (people who pour drinks) around the world use, it seems they want to distinguish themselves from the everyday bartender. Why?
Yes we are ALL on the Smirnoff and the Jack Daniel’s tonight ❤️🩹
The Boys
The Boys season 5 came out. What if I took a Superman and made it unsettling?
For context, my Superman cocktail is:
2 oz gin
.25 oz blue Curaçao
.25 oz lemon juice
.5 oz cherry brandy
Dash orange bitters
Shake, pour over a maraschino cherry.
Looking at my liquor cabinet, I find I am out of gin. This isn't too big a problem, except for color... Tequila should work, adds a bit of insult to Homelander's racist injury.
This cocktail is honestly just accessible enough to be survivable. Which is how I would describe The Boys property, to be honest. It's a rough watch. I would not drink two of these Homelanders.
.25 oz jalapeño simple syrup
.25 oz coffee liqueur, Mr. Black ideally, not Kahlua or anything too sweet.
.5 oz blue Curacao
.25 oz cherry heering
.5 oz lemon juice
2 oz tequila
Shake over ice, serve on rocks

Bringing in color anyway I can. Here’s @harneyteas Indigo Punch tea, a beautiful tisane of flowers & fruit 🌸 the blue hue comes for the butterfly pea flower. I can best describe this tea as a pineapple popsicle 💕 I steeped it warm & added iced on a warm spring day - garnished with edible flowers! #harneyteatribe #teaislove #edibleflowers #drinkspiration #tealover https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw-SJmgA8g8/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1p6vlqy5ur5wf
