it is seriously fine to ship the dr main 4 however you want six ways to sunday. berdly is also there and a pleasure to have in class. i just don't get why people are out here trying to say certain ships with zero textual romantic implications halfway through the game are going to surprise suddenly develop in the back half and become canon between characters we've spent 4 chapters with already? the game has set up its pairings with introduced characters, we know what most of the canon ships are meant to be, toby and co are not trying to hide it or play games about it. we just don't know how they play out.
utdr is not a franchise that goes hard on complicated romances. they are not the type of games that do intense dramatic twists and subtle secrets for its primary romantic storylines. we get our weird- or awkward-but-genuine flirting, we get our goofy cartoon-couple-dynamic established relationships, and we get our divorced parents. the weather channel polycule is somehow all at once, which is fun, so long as one's brain doesn't try to say "they're vacillating quadrants" to them like mine just did while writing that out. romantic drama is not the main focus and the romance is not going to be shocking. we do not need to turn it into a cw show.
again, ship the kids all you want, it's good fun. i ship the male lead from my favorite musical with the narrator from my favorite video game and it's pretty damn compelling, shit doesn't need to be canon to be good. but this post is brought to you by me witnessing someone honest to god saying they think there's actual textual implications the main 4 will become a romantic polycule. come on now. we're not watching riverdale. this game has actual themes and ideas to explore beyond shipping and huge mysteries to solve. it is not doing that and also developing ten new romantic relationships (like fifteen if you include berdly) that hadn't been sincerely romantically hinted at in 4/7 chapters in order to make all the main characters date each other just because the game acknowledges and features polyamory.
