A team from the Netherlands developed an experimental VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft that took flight for over three hours when tested. VTOL drones are versatile; they combine the fast and efficient forward flight of a fixed-wing airplane with the vertical flight of a helicopter. This one, however, features...
‘Air Hogs Connect: AR Mission Drone’ Review – Merging The Digital And Physical With Toys
The Air Hogs Mission Drone feels like something ripped out of a sci-fi children’s Saturday morning cartoon due to the fact that it actually works.
“The Air Hogs Connect: AR Mission Drone is an impressive combination of technologies that feels like it may be slightly ahead of its time. The drone controls aren’t precise, but get the job done, and the reliance on a tracking mat as well as dedicated mobile device limits the usability of an otherwise fun and intriguing way to play with a drone. While I’d love a longer battery life, the built-in games and active flying missions will get you moving around the room in a way few games can, making this a fun experience, especially for fans of drones and AR technology.”

High Tech Roadmap Guide Seeing a swarm of drones form a giant "OVER HERE" arrow in the night sky is some serious sci-fi territory. It’s essentially a massive, programmable pixel display at 500 feet.
As much as I love the clack of a mechanical keyboard and the smell of old circuit boards, I have to admit: seeing modern tech used for this kind of "real-world UI" is pretty legendary. It reminds me of the giant flashing arrows in old-school arcade racers guiding you to the finish line.
