Save the Queen - The Doctor and Regina

The Doctor was in shock, freshly regenerated, and reckless. It was easier to hurtle through space and time like a bull in a china shop than think about what she had just done, and she didn’t plan on thinking about anything for a long, long time. Instead of the flames she had left behind, she focused on the gold flames still lingering at the ends of her fingers, and the flames inside the TARDIS.
She paused.
Fuck, the TARDIS is on fire.
It should have alarmed her more, but the Doctor could feel nothing but adrenaline, and all this did was make the chaotic ride more fun. She didn’t know where she was, what she was plowing through, or where she would end up, but all that mattered was that she was speeding away from what had been Gallifrey. On the TARDIS viewscreen, things were changing, and she made note of it, feeling nothing.
“Ah. There’s some land.”
Then the TARDIS crashed, throwing her against the floor with the force of it. The Doctor nearly blacked out, but she forced herself back up, trying to regain her bearings. The adrenaline was gone now, replaced by the guilt and dread she had been trying to escape. Flames flickered inside her TARDIS, and the Doctor pushed herself up to the console, flicking some switches.
“Time for a new desktop theme. I’ll leave it to you.” It was all too tempting to let both herself and the TARDIS die here, but her love for the ship made her walk out the door so the TARDIS could repair itself. Her own life was worth nothing, but that wasn’t the TARDIS’s fault.
“I’ll see you soon.” The Doctor strode away from her blue box, following a path through a forest. She could see a castle ahead - that would be a good place to hide. She could return in a few hours and be on her way, having waited out the time in a medieval broom closet, or whatever the equivalent was. She approached a side door and opened the lock with her screwdriver, slipping inside.
