i was reading GoF last night and realised another thing that's pretty racist, joanne.

she descriped the beauxbatons students as being so "over it" at hogwarts, thinking nothing there is good enough, and how it can't be compared to their school. they are french.

she then described the durmstrang students as being amazed by everything, lifting the gold plates and examiming them as if they've never seen gold before, as if back home, they don't have anything. they are east european.

Aint it funny how Hogwarts students and teachers lowkey (HIGHkey) judge Drumstrang because they teach the Dark Arts (James and Sirius bullied Snape for liking them) but more bad people came from Hogwarts than from Dumstrang?

Hogwarts failed to kick out Voldemort, Dumstrang kicked out Grindelwald, we just know of Karkarov being a DE from Dumstrang but Hogwarts produced a ton of them. Dumstrang doesnt allow Muggle Borns yet doesnt produce most of their haters. I just found this interesting.

A reminder that Lucius Malfoy wanted to send Draco to Drumstrang because they teach Dark Magic there but Narcissa was like no are you fucking crazy you're not sending my baby boy so far away and that's how he got sent to Hogwarts

Durmstrang Institute is one of the three largest wizarding schools in Europe. Located in the far north of the continent, the school is willing to accept international students from as far afield as Bulgaria. Having existed since at least 1294, Durmstrang is one of the three schools that compete in the Triwizard Tournament, and is notorious for prominently featuring the Dark Arts in its curriculum.

I should have clarified (I was tired). The AU or deviation would be Hiccup taking Berk into hiding with the dragons, and they decide to hide in the mountains.

Ooooookay! Haha, and I was neck deep in work and nonsense so I too wasn’t paying attention.

I have #Hogwarts AU

It starts here, where Hiccup’s mother is one of the activist magicals pushing the idea of dragon reservations and his father is chief warlock. Hiccup’s time in Hogwarts is standard until he spends a summer working at a new dragon reserve and his life changes.

In this AU, I can see Hiccup trying to take his mother’s work and combining it with community. Starting his own sanctuary of sorts to practice magic alongside dragons. He also thinks there should be more education options. He doesn’t understand why the founders were so anti certain spells and he’s concerned with the iron fist some hold... particularly after a falling out between two of them.

He’s in his fifties when he starts his sanctuary, and he takes on an apprentice, Nerida Vulchanova, whom he leaves his work with as he moves on to travel the world on the back of Toothless in his remaining years.

I also have #witchunter au,

where Hiccup is accused of witchcraft for “bewitching dragons” and Astrid, with her hunting party, is tasked with hunting down Berk’s Shame. Now, Hiccup actually does start to dabble in witchcraft, in a darker turn, which means he could be taking those dragons he’s rescued east, amidst the Rus, and settling in the isolation there for a sanctuary to learn magic and tame dragons…

Or, are we going straight with merging canon and Hogwarts? Afterall, Hogwarts was founded, more or less, while HTTYD was going on. In a mixture of the above AUs, Hiccup can take Berk and its dragons, relocate east, amidst the Rus, where they also encounter Magic Users who help them conceal their new location. One such magic user would be Nerida, who later comes to found Drumstrang... pretty cool :)
