SolokXHuman, human gets assigned to the T'kumbra, personality variants, white privilege?, I still don't know how to title things.... anyways

I started reading this Solokxhuman fic the other day where human gets assigned to the t'kumbra and is like Im gonna do the best job ever and prove that smug dickwad that he's wrong about human inferiority. I've read a couple or maybe a few fics that start with that premise; and I was just thinking, If I were assigned to work under Solok I probably wouldn't put in any effort to prove him wrong. like, I probably wouldn't put in less effort or do worse (though I might, actually, depending on my mood and the circumstances idk) , but I wouldn't care enough to try harder or worry about what he thinks of me or humans in general.

But then I was thinking that maybe this is an aspect of privilege; like, because I'm white, I don't really need to worry too much about how my performance as an individual affects peoples perceptions of my race or nationality. Though I am also a woman and in that regard I do kinda need to consider how I'm affecting the perception of women as a group, but I don't think its to the same extent as it would be for say a black person (atleast in a white dominant country)

but also some people also just a "Ill prove you wrong." type of personality and others have more of a "Well, you're allowed to have wrong opinions." type of personality

Does anybody else get the idea that Solok might have whatever the Vulcan equivalent of a narcissistic personality disorder is

I said in an earlier post that solok isn't racist and I want to expand on that. 

It does not make sense that Solok would go to a mostly human school on Earth if he believes that Vulcans have so much more inherent value than everyone else. I’ve heard the argument that he did that because star fleet has superior tech being that it takes from every federation race, but we know that you can go to an equivalent school like the VSA and then transfer over to star fleet since that’s what T’pol did.

 In the episode Solok is in we are told that Solok runs an all Vulcan ship, and many people take that literally, and assume that Solok just automatically writes off any candidate who isn't Vulcan.

We receive this information from a biased source, Sisko, who since their academy days has a grudge, pent up anger towards Solok. (Its justified anger but that's not the point) In addition, Sisko is human and humans have a tendency to generalize. I don't think it's unrealistic or unreasonable to include the possibility that the T'kumbra does have a few non Vulcans serving aboard in the same way a mostly human vessel has a handful of non-humans, but is still sometimes referred to a human vessel.

Even if it is literal it actually makes more sense that different species would stick with their own given that they all have different environmental needs or preferences. (Maybe the Vulcans on the T'kumbra just want to be with a Vulcan crew cause they don’t want to be cold.) I would expect to see that same thing from other trek races. 

 In the episode Solok actually doesn't make any comments on the physical inferiority (compared to Vulcans) of human bodies, or our brain power, and instead comments primarily on the emotionalisms like getting irritated by extreme precision or Sisko’s 'manufactured triumph'. 

It is stated that Solok has written “over a dozen papers on vulcan-human comparative profiles” which, being that just before we are told this we are also told that he wrote five psychology papers on his wrestling match with Sisko, I assume are primarily psychological comparisons touching on emotions and cognitive ability, likely some that touch on Vulcan efficiency vs human efficiency given his comments on such earlier in the episode. 

I don’t think is racist for a Vulcan (or any other trek race) to write legitimate (scientific, accurately sourced, ect) papers comparing their race to humans (or any other trek race) given that there are actually physical differences between them and the races in trek aren’t just made up like races are in real life.

and maybe he wrote some a paper on physical comparisons, but I mean how many ways are there to say human muscle weak. Vulcan strong. It’s not like that’s even in dispute. Sisko himself states that Vulcans are significantly faster and stronger than humans so why would Solok waste his time writing papers on it. (That’s not beating a dead horse,  that's digging up the grave and beating the skeleton)

Also, and most importantly, Vulcans are superior to humans. They are stronger, faster, have denser bones, more efficient lungs, live twice as long, have very strong telepathic ability, have superior analytical and computing ability and greater, more accurate memory.  

 I hope this made sense, It feels kinda rambley.

Okay, I know I said before that a good friendship with Solok might be something akin to Spock and McCoy.

But I've been rewatching the Big Bang Theory and I think Solok could have a friendship like Sheldon and Penny if he befriended someone not in Starfleet, just a civilian.
