the girl seems quite young and naive, the background reveals that she is into environment, nature and animal, she seems like a happy person who doesn’t really care what other people think about her. Her tattoo is pretty cool, shes wearing a shirt that has a picture of snakes and flowers to show that how much she loves the nature and animals

Emily Carr

Emily Carr was born on December 13, 1871 and died on March 2, 1945. She was a Canadian artist and writer who was inspired by the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast.Carr was one of the first painters in Canada to adopt a Modernist and Post-Impressionist painting style. Carr did not receive widespread recognition for her work until the subject matter of her painting shifted from aboriginal themes to landscapes such as forest scenes in particular. The Canadian Encyclopedia describes her as a "Canadian icon.”

I like this piece of art because the brush strokes add a different energy to the work that wouldn’t be there without it. The fact that she is not smiling in the portrait also adds something that many portraits don’t have and separates it from the rest.

Dutch still lifes seem straightforward, but often suggest complex meditations on mortality. While the technical difficulty of the genre and its intellectual conceits might have presented a barrier to access for female artists, women in the 17th century thrived in the genre. Clara Peeters was among the most talented still-life artists of her day.
