Chung-hsing, modern day Yinchuan, was the capital of the Tangut Xi Xia Kingdom, its formidable walls protecting it from Chinggis Khan's siege in 1209-1210, the Mongols having little siege experience at that point. The Mongol forces attempted use the Yellow River to flood the city, but ended up flooding their own camp. As Chung-hsing's population was starving, Emperor Xiangzong agreed to Chinggis' terms and became a vassal of the Mongols. When the Mongols returned in 1226/1227, lets just say Chung-hsing's walls acted more as a means to corral up its citizens than protect them from the Mongols. That campaign would also be Chinggis Khan's final, the great conqueror dying sometime around the fall of the city (the exact timelime at this point is up for debate) This image was used in my video on the 1209/1210 campaign by the Mongols in Xi Xia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScgDJUf6GVA
