It’s so sadly ironic that cpurpled is finally escaping or trying to escape cquackity’s grasp and trying to take control of his life back only to be manipulated and used as a pawn by cdream and cpunz just so they can get what they want with cquackity that he never ended up making his own legacy for himself on the dsmp. cpurpled you deserved so much better im so sorry.

Jack manifold tries so hard to get someone to notice him, whether that be in a negative light or a positive one, he doesn't care. during Tommy's exile, he steals "hotter girl" (a fake girlfriend that Tommy built out of a jack o lantern and logs) from him, and rubs it in his face, desperately wanting a reaction from him.

he gets no reaction, Tommy simply does not care. Tommy is apathetic towards Jack before saying he can pretend to care, that he can lie and say that he does care. Jack says this will only make him sad.

Tommy and Jack are so tragically similar in the way that they just want to be recognized. they want to be seen, and they don't care if it's in a bad way.

they both try to get revenge on people for wronging them, but when Jack does it, no one seems to care.

if Jack manifold were the one to burn George's house down, he would not have gotten exiled. dream didn't exile Tommy because he cares about George - dream exiled Tommy because it was Tommy.

jack repeatedly tries to get revenge on people by putting clay in their houses and saying it's from dream, but no one ever cares about it. it's just a minor inconvenience for them.

Tommy is the scapegoat of the SMP - and Jack is the one that is always ignored.

they both try to get any type of attention, they're so desperate for someone to care. Tommy gets that attention, and he only realizes he doesn't like it after the fact.

jack never gets that attention.

jack sees Tommy getting all this attention, he sees him doing the exact same things as him but getting the result he never gets, and he gets upset.

during the season one finale, he specifically aims the nukes to Tommy's house. it's a desperate last attempt, maybe if he gets rid of the person getting more attention, he'll get the recognition he so very craves.

tl;dr: jack manifold and tommyinnit are so similar in a very tragic way and i have brain rot over it

I keep trying to summarize or make grand, all encompassing statements about dsmp-c!Philza as a character but I keep running into the same problem. And maybe someone more skilled in character analysis than me would be able to work around this issue. But everything I try to say about how c!Philza was actually played by Phil keeps getting thrown off by Fucking November 16th. And it’s so dumb because it was originally planned that c!Wilbur would die in the actual explosion, which means my carefully constructed character analysis keeps being thrown off by god damn minecraft-based technical issues 🥲.

C!Philza is such a morally complex, tortured, strangely empathetic (despite the circumstances) character but it’s so hard to reconcile any of his actual character motivations and actions with the objective fact he murdered his suicidal son after like, a minute of begging. I’m not saying without this he’d be a morally good character, of course not. I just find him so much more compelling as a character when removed from the spur of the moment actions which ooc wise, were never part of the plan.

Idk, I just look at his character after the end of his story. I look at the doomsday attack and think “yeah that’s totally in character for him” but I just can’t say the same for the 16th. I’ve never been able to get in the characters head in that moment, only the cc’s, which, ya know, kinda takes me out of the fiction.

Can we PLEASE discuss how people either see C!Philza as either bad dad or good dad?

Mate. Phil is a ying yang character, he has layers he has complexity, he has development, he suffers changes, he suffers alternations from the ambient he lives. Do people simply forget he is also ALL Philza's characters aside from OriginsSMP? Like, THAT explains a lot of his behaviors. Putting C!Phil as just the DSMP material makes him "meh" but in the WHOLE picture he is such a complex character, ESPECIALLY in the paternal subject.

People say he was a deadbeat dad, HOW. Like *how* and I'm not even talking about the QSMP or anything, "C!Philza killed C!Wilbur" did he have a choice? Did he show indifference? Like, my man was just finding his son went insane and blew up a nation, AND *and* if I'm not mistaken, Phil came WORRIED that Wilbur stopped giving him updates and proper answers, SO HE WAS MORE OF A LEFT IN THE DARK PARENT.

We don't know much from C!Wilbur's childhood but there's NO indicator Phil was neglecting C!Wilbur, he actually IN DAY 1 looked for ways to revive his son and GRIEF changed him completely.

People also tend to forget TOMMY IS NOT HIS CHILD. WHY SHOULD PHIL CARE FOR A KID THAT ISN'T HIS TO BEGIN WITH??? Phil cares for Techno because of ✨ long term trust and friendship✨ not in "I'll adopt you" way. Yes Phil has violent tendencies but those were displayed in an ambient were violence IS NORMALIZED!!?

Did he fuck up? Yeah, C!Fundy is an example (even if I say justified answer but ehhh-)

Can we please accept he fucked up MANY points but wasn't deadbeat? Insane? A bit Violent tendencies? Yeah. Morally chaotic? Also yeah

wilbur's last words

i was rewatching the november 16 clip, and as phil picks up wilbur's things, right after killing him, wilbur speaks up again to tell him that dream had lied about the lack of a traitor and that technoblade had 8 withers in his inventory. phil panics, joins the other vc, and shares this information, and the clip ends. I want to completely rewatch the vod(s), but before i do that-

wilbur's last words. so, i'm taking his last words in this moment to be that message. and like, that imagery. phil, cradling his son's body as he breathes his last breath, and wilbur decides to happily tell phil that more destruction is to come. technoblade has more to offer. 8 withers worth of destruction, hidden away and only wilbur knew about it. The destruction of his nation, which phil had just failed to stop, isn't over.

he doesn't call himself a traitor, however. he tells the AUDIENCE earlier in the stream that he's the traitor. when quackity asks who the traitor is, wilbur looks at the camera and raises his hand. he's quiet, however, so nobody in the vc and "in canon" actually knows. he's admitting to the audience, breaking the fourth wall, to let us know the ending. But when talking to phil, he doesn't. Phil, who had just canonized that they're father and son. He still can't, when faced with a real person he's talking to, admit that he's betraying his nation. it's HIS NATION, after all. He's not betraying anything. THEY betrayed HIM. THEY cast him out. THEY changed. WILBUR is just making sure that it dies in his image, with no further damage done to HIS SYMPHONY.

he's like schrödinger's traitor or some shit. In his mind, he is both a traitor, where he embraces his role as a villain who is going against everyone, and the betrayed, where his nation cast him out and spit on him and changed. He is whatever justifies his actions at the moment, desperate to fit into the role he carved for himself and refusing to step out of it no matter how many people beg.

Listen I dont know a lot abt dsmp lore but it kinda fascinates me how quackity representative color shifted from blue to red considering how red is a more 'agressive' color that represents passion anger and other strong emotions meanwhile blue is like a more peaceful version of red, a serene color that represents calmness freedom sensivity etc

It absolutely kills me that all this time - all. this. time. - c!Dream was just trying to SAVE the entire server! All of them! Every single member! Even the ones he hated! He knew that if they kept on this path, everyone would die! Everyone would spend who knows how long just rotting in their own limbos, alone, forever, and he refused to accept that. There had to be another way; he needed to fix it, fix the server, make everyone immortal, reset the server so that everyone would be friends again, something, ANYTHING, because nothing else compared to that utter, crushing loneliness, not people seeing him as a villain, not torture, not death itself, nothing. It didn't matter what he suffered so long as they could all find peace and happiness and health again together in the future. No more death, no more pain. Just existing together in simpler times where they could be friends again and stop dividing themselves and stop fighting (oh, so much fighting).

And he was willing to utterly destroy himself if that's what it took to save them. To not be alone. To have the time to try and fix things. So he would play the part of the villain they all thought he was. They'd thank him later, when they finally understood. He would give them forever, and they’d see. Someday. And surely, surely, with time...with time... he could be someone who isn't the villain of everyone's story. He could just be himself again. That Dream who was lost and who so desperately wanted to be found.

I don’t have the energy to go on a full rant rn but I just want to say that cwilbur is an incredibly nuanced character and his choices/actions/etc cannot fit into a black and white good vs evil and attempting to do so is drastically misinterpreting his character
