It’s been a long, long time that we’ve been waiting for a new song from Du Tonc, one of our all time Australian electronic favorites formed by top notch musician/production duo Matt Van Schie and Mighty Mouse. Now that In My Mind has finally arrived, our year can finally end complete and faultless. Right from the get go, epic retro synths and much dark allure sweep us off our feet on Du Tonc’s glorious new single, which they wrote with New York singer songwriter Vania. She also lends her sweet candied, svelte sultry voice to the lavish song. In My Mind is a cosmic enterprise, or mellifluous rocket fuel that launches us into deep orbit with its profuse stratum of orotund synths. Du Tonc is putting the final touches on their long awaited debut album, and they’ve more than whet our appetites with this deep pumping, synthwave-y aria with an irresistibly propulsive melody. Dreamy 80s retrowave meets the cinematic grandeur of electro acts like Kavinsky, Digitalism, and even a slight hint of Justice on Du Tonc’s magnificent return, a swift reminder why this pair is truly one of the brilliant electronic acts from Down Under. In My Mind is described as a melancholic alien love song with cinematic emotion.
