[LORE] Video game controllers in Unthyr
If you don't know, for each universe in my original fiction multiverse, there are three possible locations you can spend your afterlife in. Zahky is like Heaven in Christianity, but people and loved ones each get their own section that they can mold with their minds. Unthyr is for those who have sinned but are not truly evil. It's a place of dullness and boredom, but not suffering. Everrot is the equivalent of Hell in Christianity. Every soul that ends up in Everrot gets a section their mind unconsciously molds to what they don't want.
Also, reincarnation exists, but it costs your name, memories, and identity, which you regain for all of your past lives upon death. The afterlife you end up in depends on what you were like in your immediate past life. Reincarnation is why there aren't as many souls in Everrot as one may expect.
In Unthyr, there are magic video game controllers that are wireless yet don't need to be recharged or have their batteries changed. They also lack input delay like normal wireless controllers. There are three designs of this controller, all of which are shaped like an Xbox 360 controller even though they have all of the inputs of a DualShock 3. There is only a single rumble motor in the center of the controller, as opposed to the two rumble motors of different size and power that explain the DualShock name. Instead of a D-pad, there are four buttons that resemble the D-pad of Sony's controllers, but there is nothing preventing you from pressing two opposite buttons at the same time. This causes the buttons' inputs to cancel each other out. The analog sticks are like those of the Dreamcast's controller with the exception of both being able to be clicked down for extra inputs. Why that? Because it's hard plastic, which doesn't feel good for an analog stick. Like the DualShock 3, motion controls are available, and they don't interfere with the rumble and vice versa. Also like the DualShock 3 (as well as the DualShock 2), the face buttons (including the "D-pad") and triggers are pressure-sensitive, though one thing the Unthyr controllers have that the DualShock 3 doesn't is that the L2 and R2 buttons are like the L and R buttons of the GameCube, meaning that they have both analog and digital inputs.
A notable aspect of the Unthyr controllers is that souls that end up in Unthyr can mold them between three different configurations. One of these has both analog sticks below the "D-pad" and face buttons and re-labels the face buttons, shoulder buttons, triggers, and clicking the sticks to match those of Sony's controllers. The button in the center is labeled "PS" in this mode and the Start and Select buttons are shaped like those of the DualShock 3. Another has the left stick above the D-pad but the face buttons above the right stick. This one uses the names and positions of Xbox 360 controller buttons as well as changing the shape of Start and Select to match the shape of those of the 360 and turns the center button into the 360's Guide button in this mode and has the LEDs to determine player order. The remaining position has both analog sticks above the "D-pad" and face buttons, with the labels on the face buttons, shoulder buttons, and triggers changed to match those of the Wii U Pro Controller, including the LEDs to determine player order (all four light up as if its battery was fully charged when it tries to find a console to sync to). This also turns the center button into the Wii U GamePad's Home Button.
