Meeting with Ministry of Federal Territories

MP Wangsa Maju, Dr Tan Kee Kwong will have an official meeting with Federal Territory Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor on 20th November 2013. Among the main agendas are:

1. DBKL Assestment Tax Hike A hot issue recently, when DBKL announced the tax hike of 230% on assessment rate (or cukai pintu)

2. Non-suitable Roads Location Some of roads location are deemend unsuitable and create bottleneck when there is traffic congestion. For example: - Interchange road between Duke Highway to Jalan Gombak (near Kg Bandar Dalam) - Interchange road between Taman Bunga Raya to Taman Melati (near Kolej Tar / Kampung Setia Jaya & Wira Jaya)

3.Uptown Danau Kota Night Market DBKL had replied that there was a plan to shift the night market to new location but do not have the timeframe yet. Because of the night market patrons car parking by roadside, severed traffic congestion is obvious from Jalan Genting Klang to housing areas because of this night market at wee hours.

4. Pasar Besar Gombak  Though located in a strategic location @ Jalan Gombak, the huge market is now becoming more and more gloomy since the departure of Maybank. It is believed that the market can be upgraded and developed to be a useful one-stop center like UTC – as the same had been done in UTC Sentul and Puduraya.

5. DUKE 2 There was suggestion to construct DUKE 2 expressway. Before any major construction erected, it is best for the developer to host a forum with Wangsa Maju residents as it will affect a lot of property owners.

6. Recreation Center in Danau Kota Right behind Festival City / PV12 and Setapak Gold Range, there is an ex-mining lake currently abandoned. It is best to turn the lake to be a recreation center for residents nearby.

7. Flash Flood issue Recent raining season caused a lot of flash floods in Wangsa Maju. Places like Kg Puah Hilir (since the River of Life began), Taman P Ramlee, Teratai Mewah, and many more; had been struck with serious flash floods and it is hoped that Federal Territory Ministries and DBKL are able to look into permanent preventive solutions.

8. Pasar Teratai Mewah The market has not been maintained well for so many years. Besides the poor drainage system, the market is always hit by sever flash floods and water retention whenever there is heavy downpour.

9. Kampung Warisan di Kuala Lumpur Lastly, it is wish by residents in to preserve heritage village in Kuala Lumpur, especially in Kg Warisan. Once a while, there were rumours that these village areas might be redeveloped into commercial centers and caused anxieties among the KL residents. Some of the gazzetted areas has been around for decades and it is hoped that DBKL is able to preserve the heritage.
