I like the idea that even Lotus undermines the fact that he's a Demi-god, because all his life growing up the fact that he was only half a God was relevant to most around him. The other Gods would be saying he had dirty blood and that with every action he made it was obvious he was only half of what he was supposed to be y'know?
He was told to watch a sacrifice and couldn't even bare to listen to the sounds, while the others his age would cheer on with delight, being threatened with a beating and told he needs to toughen up if he wanted to stay with the gods instead of the mortals
Which he very much did
Because as far as he was considered, and what his father had told him "mortals are greedy, backstabbing, untrustworthy, filthy" like as far as Lotus was aware at the time Gods (he was surrounded by) were merciful compared to the mortals that would "rip him to shreds in the name of loyalty" or whatever
He didn't consider being half a God an honor, but a reminder that he isn't pure, and only half of what he'll ever be basically...
And although he's been long since kicked from his original place he's still very weary around many mortals still, he assumes the worst in people before he even sees them, and expects violence for minor misunderstandings, and betrayal over promises.
Also it's funny I say God's, his dad isn't a God, nor are the other "God's" around him
They're corrupt angels pretending to be God and manipulating mortals for their own gain, but promising it's for the better of the people
So Lotus is more like a "Demi-Angel"
"Why was he made?" To be the bridge between mortals and the angels/gods. Angels can be unsettling to look at, especially ones that have turned from their rightful duties, PLUS some angels considered it dirty just to even be seen by a mortal, they believe they're above being seen by them. So they just made Lotus to connect the two worlds
